SomeoneSomewhere:

A couple of months should be well within the original warranty, let alone the CGA.

Definitely, but I've been through the return process with the manufacturer before, and it took an age to get a resolution. Paying $10 to skip to the end is okay with me.

When I bought my smart watch, HN's salesperson told me the CGA didn't cover battery failure, but the extended warranty did.

Thats 100% misleading. A FAULTY batt would be covered by the CGA (my opinion ). Faulty .
Even the manufacturers guarantee should cover a faulty batt (not a worn out batt)
A worn out batt , that would be harder . Even then, goods have to last a reasonable time .
