Gee that's a bit nuts. A bit crazy that it's possibly a disgruntled ex-gz'r as well! Glad it all went down with the minimum of fuss and was resolved sensibly.

@gehenna: Also two police knocking at the door feels like a mild swat.

It is New Zealand, man!

I hope you always remember to blow on the pie.

I Think we might need to apply a more kiwi term ..

'Cause the chances of AOS or STG rolling round to a "tip off" have got to be pretty low... unless there actually were Churrasco leftovers.....

But that aside, it does appear it was professionally handled by the cops and it was a win all round... except for perhaps the delayed espresso...

We use to get visited by various "authorities" because our neighbors didn't like us. Dog control, CYFS, pool inspector.... regular visitors.

Never had the police though. Was probably on their list until they moved.....

Any publicity is good publicity. This may have the opposite effect of what the perpetrator intended and will attract more new members instead.

Maybe a trespass order should also accompany banned persons who come across 'peculiar.'

Meanwhile, we know you wear a Brazilian Black Belt...no need to keep it quiet.

i might have cracked my shower base too, if the police suddenly turned up at my door while i'm in the middle of a hot shower!

😁

glad it didn't turn into anything nasty.

Article updated with Police comment:

"a police spokeswoman told the Herald, "Police can confirm they went to a Wellington address this morning after receiving an anonymous report that an explosive device was present.

"Police spoke with an occupant and it was quickly determined that the report was not valid."

Asked about the penalty for making a false allegation, the police spokeswoman pointed to Section 24 of the Summary Offences Act (1981), which allows for a prison term of up to three months or a fine of up to $2000 for someone who wastes police time with what they know to be a groundless accusation."

Oh my word.

That must have been a bit of puckered up "what have I done wrong" moment when two police turn up at your front door wanting a chat..

Would love to see the visitor numbers for the next few days compared to history, I daresay you'll get quite a few new impressions!

How did the media find out?

I mentioned on my Twitter and Chris Keall was interested so contacted me in private. I have known Chris (and others) for years in the tech/journalist circles.

But that's the thing about it being NZ, your response is "gee, I wonder what's up?" rather than the "OMG I'm going to die" that you'd get in the US, assuming they didn't just break in and start shooting.

I also found that my shower base cracked when I tested IEDs there. Much better to test them in a solid steel bath.

Only if you are black.

Just look at the difference in treating the BLM protest in front of the Capitol in US vs how the white Trump Terrorists were treated.
