My latest Amazon order arrived in NZ in 5 days from date of order using DPD and Aramex. I suspect Aramex prioritise Amazon deliveries or have a contracted delivery time. Otherwise Aramex tend tends to be the slow / economy option. Their drivers do tend to work later than average.
I've never had any issues with Aramex deliveries...with that said I don't think I have had many.

Just had a pair of tyres delivered from Chch to Upper Hutt in 3 business days via Amarex. Delivery was "2-3 business days" so it was somewhat of a surprise they turned up yesterday.
However, it seems the driver had issues with the complicated delivery instructions of "Please leave on back doorstep". This is on the delivery label and there is also a sign on the front door saying "Please use back door".
All other couriers seem quite capable of following this complicated arrangement without any drama such that packages are left basically out of sight of the street. But Amarex seems quite happy to blatantly ignore both signs and just leave things by the front door in full view of the street and where I don't often go.
Yesterday's effort had managed to drop them by the gate by the time I went out to ease his burden.
We have been with Fastway for a long long time doing the the majority of our business, business 2 business.
They are extremely variable. Sometimes taking 5 days to deliver something 2.5KM down the road, other times going out of their way to be helpful.
Over the period we have reconsidered dealing with them as pickups were so unreliable, but then things improve.
I am not 100% convinced switching to another courier company will improve things, they all seem rubbish.
Our current CourierPost driver has been brilliant in taking our feedback and is delivering twice a day now, but it was terrible for quite some time.
What I have found is it is usually an individual driver issue, or a change of drivers that causes the majority of our issues.

I've had a purchase from Amazon delivered last Saturday past 2pm, something of a surprise as I didn't expect any courier deliveries on a Saturday let alone so late in the afternoon. No complaints from me though - package was dropped off at front door but out of sight of people walking past on the street, plus it was raining cats and dogs last Saturday at the time of delivery so kudos to the driver for making the effort to deliver the item on such a fine day!
Interestingly a small order from Amazon cleared customs on the 11 April and has since been in their depot somewhere... Now there's a Monday 18 April delivery date - a week from Auckland to Wellington is a bit too much.

Check out Aramex google reviews if you want a good laugh. Their service is erratic, to say the least. We had a parcel delivered after 8:00PM (dark rainy night) last week. It was nice to get the parcel but it freaked my wife out who was home alone.
I have used Aramex (nee fastway) a bunch of times over the last few weeks via trademe.
Man do they suck at picking up in a timely way. Need to follow up via email on failed pickups greater than 50% of the time... But on the positive side, they are the cheapest, and all the packages have got to where they are going once picked up.
A couple years back I stopped using fastway. Multiple incidents where they took extended over a week to deliver across Auckland, and a tracking system that was a mess. Had one case where I refunded a customer as the tracking system showed it as undelivered in around 2 weeks, when it actually had been delivered. The seem to be a little better these days.
Courierpost is better, but a little more expensive.
Aramex sounded like a ammunition or ballistic armour company when I first heard the name. I feel sorry for their employees - working that late seems like harsh working conditions.
Had a lot of trouble with Fastway in South Auckland a couple of years ago, business to business with rolls of electrical wire from Trade-depot consistently disappearing. I assume one of F.W.'s staff were cashing them in at the local scrap dealer.

They're not employees. Fastway/Aramex is a franchise - the person delivering parcels is an independent owner operator, being paid a pittance for each parcel they drop off.

We had them turn up on a Sunday once!
Aramex or AraNOT... Every recent delivery has been delayed with even cross Auckland deliveries taking around a week.
Ordered some new masks at the weekend, picked up Tuesday with the hope of having them by Friday for the weekend.
Current estimated delivery unknown, just hope I see them by next weekend.
Last time this happened I had to get the retailer to nudge Aramex to even get a response, and then they delivered the goods without knocking, leaving them in clear sight on our doorstep.

So far, it's taken them a week to collect the parcel from the supplier in Wellington CBD. It was scheduled to be delivered yesterday (day 8) in Upper Hutt. Failed to arrive and now showing "delayed".
They are still following their old LostWay business practices.
Will probably follow up with the retailer on Tuesday and request a replacement via click and collect since I can only assume they have lost the item in transit.

Both of my recent Aramex deliveries Whangarei to Auckland ended up being delayed and slow. Tracing showed multiple pickups for same item, which according to tracking went twice between Whangarei and Auckland before being delivered as I started complaining by phone to them.
I don't use them if I have to send anything anywhere, which is not often fortunately. Like BlinkyBill I'd more than likely not buy a product if it was to be shipped via Aramex. That's based on a bad experience a while back where a parcel was sent to me and went into their rural delivery container (I'm not rural) and it took 8 or 9 phone calls over a period of about 6 weeks to get it moved from that and finally delivered to me.
