Enjoyed the reunion. I remember watching the show at the time and my wife says it was her favourite show back then. We did a big USA trip in 2019 and saw a lot of Friends things for her. Did the Warner Bros studio tour in LA so got to see the set and sit in the Central Perk couch, then in New York we went to see the real apartment building used for the exterior shots and went to another exhibition with all sorts of props and sets where we got to re-enact the Pivot scene amongst other things.

Edit: Didn't mean that was the reason for the trip! The New York expo worked out with the dates we were there.

It's amazing how much of that show actually became normalised in real life, like "They were on a break" and "PIVOT" and the clapping in the theme song etc.

Also - how many people referred to their friends in the 90's as "the Joey of the group" or "The Rachel".

I was a hairdresser back in the days when it first came out and I got so sick of cutting women's hair in a Rachel style...

Hahahahah my wife got the Rachel cut and I was the Joey of our group of friends. As mentioned above I have gone the way of the Joey as well lol.

I thought an actual reunion episode (if done well) might have been interesting to see where the characters were all these years later (but a one-off, not a show revival). I just don't understand the hype surrounding this "episode" since it was essentially just interviews etc.

I was always more of a Seinfeld fan anyway, and far preferred the season-long arc in Curb Your Enthusiasm about making a fictional Seinfeld reunion episode over this.

Errrr. The format was exactly what it was intended to be. It was only ever going to be a cast catch up not an episode that did any sort of story to the original series.

Fans often mooted the idea of a new episode or what you were just describing for years, however some cast have always said no no no. And they have been ongoing supposed grievances between each other outside of it. Check out new stories involving Matthew Perry...
Of which this appears to have been a form of public resolve and catch up bowing to fan demand

David had been interviewed a few times during the lead up and straight up said they were playing themselves

Gunther was in most of the episodes, yet all he literally got to say was hi and he was doing well, etc.Parts of it did feel like a new episode as they seemed very much like their characters which I guess is why they got chosen. It did just feel a little bit sad.

I actually enjoyed what the producers had to say and would have been quite happy to hear more from them. The interviews and question answers were very clearly edited. Did Elliott Gould really have nothing to say and not have any questions directed to him? I doubt it. When a question was asked about what the cast didn't like, Corden referred to "answers", plural, yet only one topic was discussed. There is probably many hours of content, edited to fit a two hour slot.

It felt like they tried to tick a bunch of boxes, including diversity. Somehow, despite time constraints, they still thought it was relevant to include drivel from irrelevant people. Kit Harington didn't even seem that familiar with Friends and had absolutely nothing to do with the show creation.

The problem is time and trying to fit everything in, then dealing with some peoples short attention spans and advertising. It could have been a multi part series on Netflix. I am guessing a significant amount of material could have been included
