Ordered a cheap tablet for the kids on October the 25th from Aliexpress using Aliexpress Standard Shipping and received it this afternoon. Amazed at getting it in 9 business days. At the same time I ordered a phone from Supero which is still in transit. Lets see if the phone case from Aliexpress arrives before the phone...

MadEngineer: Replaced the mechanism in two clocks with silent ones.

I;ve ordered a wifi one to see if its any good - but it arrived and I have misplaced it before opening it as the sd card on the camera over my bench I open things on was full so I put it to one side somewhere.

Today I had a meter of led strip arrive to see if it was any good - it seems ok so will order more for my shelves. 11 days if I have done maths right. Amazingly fast. will work out about $10 per shelf it goes on but its diffuse so no ugly shadows, and not stupidly large like the fake neon stuff is.

Ooh, nice, for the reasons you mention. Be interesting to get an update on six months or so if it's still functional, they could be useful in various places here.

Just arrived... a 150mm linear actuator, 5mms^-1, 235N, 12V DC, IP54. I'm oddly excited about this one.

The plan is to use this to automatically open and close a green house window as part of a hydroponics system I'm putting together. I would prefer to use a pneumatic cylinder but I'm setting up a high pressure water system initially as the location isn't practical for mains power or compressed air (more noise, even from a quiet unit).

Christmas present arrived - super pleased with this arrived a couple of weeks and very well packaged.  Was considering getting from Amazon (which have never used in 13yrs living in NZ) but this was a great buying experience.  Also just bought loads of stuff (cycling and camping gear mainly) on 11/11 sales will see when that arrives..

Huh, typical Aliexpress scam, I bet they posted the photos with nothing to scale so you couldn't tell you were just getting a tiny model rather than a real Gundam. Are you going to ask for your money back?

No, it's an aspidistra.

The leaves, steam, and potting mix are a bit of a giveaway.

Had this turn up a few day's ago and it is without a doubt bloody awesome.

Just a very miniature Dremel but its perfect for exposing traces on boards for repair and micro cutting disc's are perfect for removing shields etc.  USB chargeable it just a winner in my books. Only cost me around 37 bucks.

Is this actually yellowy looking when powered off ?

I am thinking of getting some of these but some strips will be visible (Pantry)
