Haha! Just saw that. Might leave it. Call it a Freudian slip (and marriage over after 32 years).

Any advice to keep cats out? Or at least stop them from using my back yard as their toilet.

Google "motion activated sprinkler". There's lots of YouTube videos of these in action, they're pretty effective.

Edited to add: Look for videos by Turnah81 for a somewhat over-the-top DIY version, meaning it doesn't just spray them, it blasts them off their feet.

I've also noticed one last week, likely from a cat, I've seen up to 6 cats in one night according to my security camera footages. I've also had a cat urinating inside my brand new garden shed while it was still being built.

Any advice to keep cats out? Or at least stop them from using my back yard as their toilet.

I used crushed mothballs from Mitre10.   Seems to work but you need to repeat the application.

Not recommended if you are using the outdoor area a lot,  due to the smell.

Before I get hate responses, NZ SPCA does not support managed targeted trap-neuter-return programmes in ecologically sensitive areas where cats pose a significant risk to native wildlife.

There is a study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information

"In total, 545 animals were trapped over the study period from May 2015 to June 2016; of these, 533 were cats, but 21 were companion cats;"

..."12 were animals of another species (hedgehogs and possums)"

Not to open a whole can of worms, but this is from Timms trap:

Timms Trap – Prevent Harm to Children and Non-Target Animals

To avoid any chance of endangering children or catching non target animals such as cats using the Timms Trap, follow these basic precautions:
  • Keep fingers clear of the front of the trap at all times.

  • Timms kill traps can be located in a tree or on a fence, out of reach of children.

  • Raising the trap on bricks or a block of wood stops hedgehogs getting to the trap.

  • Set the trap in the late afternoon/early evening. Release the set trap early in the morning.

  • If concerned, ensure that the family cat is restrained indoors while the trap is set. Some breeds of cat and young cats may become inquisitive and enter a set trap.

  • To satisfy curious cats when the new trap arrives, put the unset trap out for several nights with a mixture of curry powder and flour on the ground around it - this should discourage them

  • Do not use any food types as bait which will attract cats, such as bread, jam and meat.

We often clean up neighbours cat poop in our fully fenced back yard....

A new visitor has turned up... most likely a hedgehog based on the images found in the following detailed link:

https://inaturalist.nz/observations?place_id=any&project_id=whose-poo-new-zealand&verifiable=any

Part of my reason for my initial posted link was that I was extremely impressed with the numerous identified poop images.

This is excellent, I'll be trying it out.😁

I take a neighbour's dog for walks or vice versa and am always amazed at the amount and variety of stuff that comes out of it. It rarely looks the same from one day to the next. We currently have another possum visiting and it leaves calling cards very similar to your hedgehog except that they are on top of fence posts.
