I had never eaten Domino's until Saturday night when I was at a friend's place and she ordered it. Now that I've tried it I can't understand why anyone would pay actual money to eat that muck.

Yep, they have definitely gone downhill, focusing on volume not quality.

Selling pizzas for $5 will do that. I'm amazed that they are still able to offer them for that price.

The thing for me is Domino's is quite convenient; I live quite close, so I can get a pizza and walk home with it.

Good to see they're adding some more pizzas to their value range. Now if they could just work on their customer service...

I reckon since they've recently introduced the smaller pizzas for $3.99, that in the future they'll become the $5 ones, and they'll increase the cost of the current $5 pizzas.

Possibly explains why my last few $5 ones have not had photos.

I always plan on getting just the $5 pizza and end up spending another $8 on sides and stuff too. Its how they get you.

That photo of your pizza thing is a joke.

My last order was for two pizzas. One looked very good (decent toppings, even coverage, good colour), while the other looked rather sad (poor topping spread and coverage, uneven browning). Only one had a photo come through - no points for guessing which. 😒 (Answer: the good looking pizza had a photo, the other pizza didn't.)

I've never bothered complaining, but not unusual for pizzas to arrive with some toppings missing.

Dominos in the UK can be up to £20 per pizza and it is no better than here.

They finally responded, apologised and gave me a voucher for two free sides, which is good. I just hope the feedback around that staff member makes it through to the right person.

May as well get Sal's for that price! 😃

Mmmmm my local is Greerton, Tauranga and have never had a problem. Correct size, correct toppings and ample of and all nicely arranged.

I usually order via iDevice and go and pickup and pay.

NOTE: just round the corner is Pizza Hutt. Both Pizza places are run by Indians. Also Greerton has 4 Indian takeaways as well as;1 Tai, 1 Burger place, 2 Chinese, 2 korean suzi, 1 Fish'n'chips, 1 Subway, 1 Turkish Kebab, 2 Cafe, 2 lunch bars, 2 up market restaurants, all within 300 meters of each other.  So the competition is quite stiff.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Indeed! I was in the UK a couple of years ago and was quite shocked at the Dominos pricing. Made me realise that we've got quite good pricing here in NZ.

@scuwp:

They ended up providing me an evoucher and an extra $10 for the trouble.

Many years ago (let's say around 93) I promised never again to have Domino's, after a bad experience in the USA (how can you stuff up a cheese pizza?)

A few years back Domino's was doing a PR push in New Zealand and their PR agency sent me a bottle of Chianti, a checkered red tablecloth like those seen in cliche Italian trattorias and a voucher for two pizzas.

I thought "ok, will try"

Visited the local Domino's. The woman had a look at the voucher and said "No, we are not accepting this."

So I left and kept my promise of not eating Domino's. But had a nice wine thanks to their PR agency.

I'm not surprised that you received poor service.

They hire mainly kids, pay minimum or youth rates and work them into the ground.

It's not exactly a career prospect for any of them.

The adults that work there are quite often immigrants, who are probably insanely overqualified for that work, but doing the right thing by their adopted country and working for a living.

Franchisees are just looking for the best return on the dollar and the volume play is hurting them more than the Master Franchisor, as they supply all the ingredients and equipment, so I wouldn't be looking for a great deal of care or interest in complaints about attitudes and service, if I am honest.

The joys of the modern convenience-driven world. And when you complain, you're instantly a Karen or a Ken.
