sort of on the same topic

any options to ween myself off my morning cafe takeaway coffee
Ive realised Im buying out of habit .

I'd like to save the $25 a week , not drink a morning coffee , but still have a nice morning drink thats not caffeine .
Im down to 1 coffee fix per day, I'd like to zero that

Fruit tea - some are much better than others - the healtheries nectarine one is good.

Plus 1 on the tuna - just be a little careful of eating that fish (tuna) too much. Being at the top of the food chain, they have accumulated heavy metals.

Also use rice crackers rather than cooked rice.

Prep. Soak cup and half of white haricot dried beans overnight. Next day boil in water, only adding salt when they soften, then boil five minutes more with the salt. Pressure cooker makes it all faster. Drain.
Hard boil some eggs, refrigerate and peel as needed. Keep beans in a container in fridge and take out as much as needed each time. Store four days max.

Beans found in Indian or Middle Eastern shops. Cannelini beans also ok. Can also be made with rinsed, canned cannelini or butter beans, but I prefer making my own.

Fasolia Piaz

Cooked Beans
Chopped garlic
Chopped red onion
Flat leaf parsley chopped
Oregano
Add, extra virgin olive oil, don’t be stingy, it soaks up.
Vinegar or lemon juice or a mix of both. I rather like it with malt vinegar.
Salt, pepper
Mix, then add quartered eggs last.

Optional additions;
Chopped tomatoes
Chopped cucumber

Eat with crusty bread to dip into the juices.

Can be prepared in the morning and only gets better by lunch time.

I see a few mentions of fish here. If any of you heat fish in the work lunch room microwave, please consider your life choices!!

networkn:

So, where I work in on the fringes of the city, there aren't many decent options for walkable distance lunches near me.

That means each lunchtime I uber eats, or drive to somewhere etc.

I am keen to get together some lunch ideas that are quick and easy to make, microwave friendly to reheat if required, tasty and ideally healthy (Not all options must be healthy). I am on a downward trend for weight, which is what I want, so I don't want 5 days of high calorie lunches :)

Hopefully, it will give some others some ideas as well.

Have that issue in mt eden. Up the road is tuckerbox which is full of nice greasy unhealthy stuff at high prices, the other way is a sushi shop that is crazy expensive now and at best average, Subway is too far to walk and too slow to get food and eat it. Its getting to the stage where with transport costs and lunch taken out of the pay I should be looking elsewhere.

My office is at home so its dead easy for me. I usually have a cup of home made soup for lunch.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Every Sunday I make a medium pot of white rice and a small pot of mixed green beans. Then fry up some mince coated with moroccan seasoning, grated Carrot, Zuchini and some leafy greens in it like spinach.

Very delicious and healthy, best of all it lasts the week. Rice is much better than breads

Wattie's vine ripened tomato soup is quite good and doesn't need to be stored in the fridge

Shin Ramyum noodles with a can of smoked tuna is good.  Throw in some spinach leaves and veges and it is almost healthy.

If you like a bit of spice these are good Samyang Hot Spicy Chicken

People just need to be less precious.  Fish is healthy and delicious food choice.  Many foods have pronounced aromas.

no, people need to BE MORE CONSIDERATE of their workmates .

In a office space or small lunchroom, the stink of cooking fish is unpleasant to those who arnt actually eating it. It can fill the whole office .
If I microwaved a dog pooh at lunchtime, would you be precious with the smell.
What about someone cooking up some healthy delicious Durian :-)

I'd say the same with onions.
Consider how bad you breath smells after a onion laden lunch . OK if never face to face with others , but if you are......

So does five spice (that stuff will stink out whole apartment buildings) and curry and cooking meat and all sorts of things.  Even jasmine rice bothers some people. Where do you draw the line?  People gotta eat,  Must it be bland mush to avoid bothering the intolerant?

BTW How often per week do you eat dog excrement?

It comes down to
either be considerate of those in your workspace . You arnt the only person there

or be a self centred ahole and not care a rates arse about your SHARED work environment .

So its OK to stink out a shared space , with 3 companies working there , and stink out the reception area .
Ive had that with the ONE PERSON who wanted a microwaved fish lunches .
