psychrn:
here is the data on the back of the packet re sugar content.
The 4.4 gms per 100 mil of finished product is the one to use I think. How does that compare to other product Ill do some research on.

My mistake - I'd looked at the per serving column.  The actual level is more reasonable, I must give it a try

Ginger beer isnโ€™t hard to make from scratch. Itโ€™s basically just ginger, sugar and wild yeasts. It takes a bit longer than 24 hours to ferment but itโ€™s ready in under a week once you have a viable bug. A bug takes a couple of weeks to get going then can be stored in the fridge between batches.

That's a bugger. I placed an order just the other day after seeing this thread. So far all I've got is a tracking number assigned :/

Ordered one of the closing down packs.

For a while I ran a small 'single product' business until it got too big to be a hobby but too small to support me. It's hard.

All credit to this guy/lady/team.

Personally love alcoholic ginger beer, but am not great at making it :)

And seeing as this is a shopify site, and gives you an order number: Your order # is: 000000285 and has been running since mid 2020 , well 285 orders isn't very much in 1.5 years.

For what it is worth, considering they are shutting down:

Pack arrived yesterday. Watched the video, made up a bottle.

Sat it in a small open chilly bin to contain any "spills" and stop any temp shocks.

Left it in the hallway. Could hear the "hissing" quite clearly.

After 24 hours, tightened the cap and put in the fridge.

Tried a little tonight. The smell and flavour reminded me instantly of the Ginger Beer I made when at High School.

The Wife also rated it as "good".

Very nice experience. At least I have 9 more sachets ๐Ÿ˜‹

That's good to hear - my pack arrived this morning, but I don't have any spare PET bottles of 2 litres or more (hundreds of homebrew ones smaller than that though) so it'll have to wait until the next trip to the supermarket.

I'm excite too. Was planning to just split it into 3 750ml bottles

Considering this thread is the first I have heard of it and I would have thought I would be in any targeting they would have done for advertising, this is all on them.

I tried my first batch a couple of weeks ago - a lot stronger taste than I thought it would be. Pretty nice though. They mean it about letting the pressure out of the bottles slowly though - my first one went all over the place.

In my second batch, I used a tiny amount more than 2 litres, and split it over three 750 ml homebrew bottles, which worked perfectly.
