I was happy to see my parcel was shipped from the US with DHL but bummed out to see they use other agents for the NZ end.
Now NZ Courier staff are severely impacted with covid issues has anyone got any idea if they are achieving any deliveries now or are they going to have a chronic backlog that will take weeks to catch up? I sent an email offering pick up if it helped but I haven't had a reply yet. Can anyone share any recent experiences with NZ Couriers?

Their website has a regionalised dashboard which should be helpful.

Depends where you are as to whether they stay with DHL for final delivery I think. I'm hoping DHL complete my AKL delivery early this week, last scan was SYD yesterday so I'm expecting it to fly across tonight.

An update for 2024, it's still just as bad, an item that arrived on Saturday is sitting at a Fedex depot in East Tamaki and won't be delivered until Friday.

However I have a possible explanation, based on experiences in countries with high levels of corruption: The shipment was sent by standard Fedex international delivery rather than any of the more expensive Fedex international premium courier express platinum whatever services. If this is handled as it is in corruption-rich countries then processing always takes the same time for any item but for the less expensive services they sit on it for a week or a month and then release it for delivery. So what you're paying for isn't express processing but an absence of deliberate delays.

We used Fedex for years where I used to work, had very few issues with delivery.

You are probably referring to International economy, which can take up to 5 business days. Its much cheaper than priority and from memory is available from most, if not all countries.

We used to use that ourselves for non time sensitive stuff.

Yeah, it's international economy. However the fact that they've been sitting on it since Saturday and it's scheduled for delivery Friday afternoon does seem to indicate they're deliberately delaying it in order to not compete with their more expensive services.

Yip, that's exactly what they do, occasionally the odd economy parcel sneaks out early but not often.

If I were running Fedex I would simply hide the tracking information to make the punter think it was "In Transit"

I find both very reliable to NZ. Thereafter it’s handed to NZ Post and then take a ridiculous amount of time, especially for RD.

I find both reliable. Recently, I had a DHL item with an expected delivery date of Wednesday, and it arrived from Germany in Auckland on Friday before. To my surprise, a courier driver delivered the item here in Wellington just after lunchtime on Monday, despite being King's Birthday holiday.

So not only early, but on a public holiday.

Speaking of FedEx, I was on a flight from Singapore last week and the first thing unloaded on landing in Auckland was a huge pallet of plastic-wrapped boxes all with FedEx labels.
