Just phone up and ask to be put through to one of them. Not creepy.

Assuming they work there rather than it being the 86-year-old retired founder of the company :-). I assume the one with the Birkenhead address at least will be on the premises, I'll try asking for him.

Fair Go has been on the case of a factory in Wellington (Hutt Valley actually) that has been causing horrible noises. Maybe drop a line to them. Farrahs I think?

You say it's been going for a couple of weeks? So, it's not a normal noise. Suggests it is a maintenance issue, and getting hold of the right person (sounds like you talked to someone who doesn't care) will get the ball rolling.

The Beach Haven & Birkdale Facebook group would be a good place to drum up community support.

Someone will tag someone who knows the right person to speak to.

Or could just ask one of the friendly neighbourhood bikers down that way to stick a metal poll through it for you for a box of beers.

Go over at night with a can of CRC, a torch and a metal pole.

You might be able to sort it easily with CRC applied to the correct part, or a metal pole embedded into the incorrect part.

I realise you're joking, but there are at least two gang houses in the area that's getting hit by the noise... I really want to do this through the proper channels though, definitely no vigilantism. Even locating the source was tricky, since it's at the back of a property it was best to get Noise Control to investigate it rather than DIY since they wouldn't end up potentially having to explain what they were up to to the police.

one of the directors is on linkedin if you have an account and don't mind them knowing who you are, another option for reaching out

Sound like your whole area is affected.  Is it an option to speak to some of your neighbours and join forces.

I have no idea how to go about this in real life sorry.  Maybe 10 0f you could ring noise control at the same time every night?

Or if you do get to speak to someone in authority at Allproof let them know that you're representing  several families.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

An obvious question is: how long have you lived there and how long has the factory been there?

Is this a situation like people who moved into the Western Springs and Eden Park areas in recent years - then started complaining about the noise and disruption?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I was semi-serious. I have no time for antisocial behaviour - area is plagued by it.

Maybe hit up John Gillon?

john@johngillon.co.nz
john.gillon@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz

He's on the Kaipātiki Local Board, and knows people who can possibly get things moving.

Its also worth doing some research into the consented noise contour for the said industrial zone.

Maybe pop into the council and ask, it should be in the city plan and maybe further info on the LIM or other such documents?

I think this is just another example of the toothlessness of local councils.

I see there is a house in Auckland that has been collecting so much rubbish for a few years that it is visible from satellites.

In Christchurch we have had problems with mountains of old car tyres being dumped. We even had a big fire in one that caused evacuations.

We also have the derelict Antonio Hall on Riccarton Road and the old sale yards next to Hagley Park.

In our street we have a large site that used to be a school that is now overgrown with grass and weeds. The seeding thistles are well over a metre tall. Several neighbours have rung the council due to it being a fire risk, but they are not interested.
