Bung: Was there longer video that showed where the postie went? To me the only legit reason would be he had 2nd thoughts about the address.

I was thinking this is the more likely scenario. It looks like he suddenly realised that he had misidentified the house number or street name on the letter. Admittedly it's a bit odd that he looks up and down the street.

I'm not sure why he would approach the letterbox if he were planning to swipe the letter rather than delivering it? Unless it was an impulsive last moment thing?

Theses are all questions I have asked myself - weird behaviour, unless he's an opportunist and has felt something in the letter that appeals to him.

No video from me that shows where he went. It just doesn't look or feel like a wrong address situation. My letterbox has big numbers on it, so that's easy and the street is named after the suburb, so is the easiest one to identify.

Not the usual postie, as far as I can tell.

Does he check the 'feel' of the letter beforehand, the first time he moves? He is delaying putting it in the post box.

If there was a suggestion he had the wrong address, would he not have looked and maybe double checked the address on the envelope?

I can't wait to see this on 7Sharp

That's what I was thinking as well but then he never looks at the address on the letter and as someone else pointed out looks at the camera several times. It's as if he's delivering a ransom demand or something, sees he's being recorded, and thinks better of it.

The letter should have been in number order in the bundle. Once the posties were involved in that sorting but AFAIK it's done before they get it. Giving him benefit of doubt I think something didn't fit with the look of house like whether flats were likely. I think he still had the letter in his right hand as he left.

A postie wouldn't have to feel mail to know whether it was one of the 100s of bank cards they'd get every day.

Yes they can. Declines are reported and flagged.

With my new credit card the first use needed to be swiped or inserted and the correct PIN entered before it can be used online or with payWave. . Won’t your debit card be the same?

(Curiously my Apple Pay on both my watch and iPhone both automatically updated and I was able to use those to make payments while waiting the 10 days for postage for the card to arrive. Yeah - standard post is crazy slow now.)

I would actually relax, wait for the letter to arrive and look at it very carefully. If, on the other hand, there is the slightest trace of an opening, I would go to the police with it - perhaps there is an investigating commission after a whole ring, of which your case is only a small part? If it is fraud, I don't think he is stupid enough to act on his own account. If you make noise, only he will be exposed and those behind him will get away. You are covered in case of credit card misuse. And you have proof.

No shortage of dodgy posties in the past, but usually they go large and just don't deliver whole loads instead of single letters.

He flips through letters before picking it out so he thought there was one for the address, so a couple of explanations I could think of other than nefarious:

1. got the letters out of order somehow (dropped them or something) but remembered there was one for number XX, flicks through, grabs number XX, goes to put it in and realises last second that it's not this house

2. saw/felt it was a card and there were some dodgy looking people coming down the street, so thought it would be better to RTS than leave it to be nicked

I cant see the issue.
He was out in public . He needs to justify his actions .
No one here recognizes him. There was no name & shame .
It wont affect him either way , as chances are if dodgy he will get away with it .

You would think that if he saw the camera , he wouldnt have tried this .
maybee he didnt think the cam would have so good resolution .

or maybee hes was daydreaming , then realized it was the wrong letterbox .

IF the Debit card does show up, then we will al be wrong.
if the Debit card doesnt show up , then if it quacks like a duck....
