Truly the end of an era. Hopefully Charles proves to be a better king than many think he will, but I don't think anyone could fill those shoes. I doubt we will ever see the likes of her again.

Rest In Peace

Quite a sad day.

She reigned with a Class, Grace and calm I can't recall any other leader showing. She will be remembered for the positives she brought to her time which is all you can ask.

Something Interesting I heard today.

Her first Prime Minister was Sir Winston Churchill, and Her last Liz Truss. Born over 100 years apart!

Some 17 British Prime Ministers, I wonder how many she wished she could have used a cricket in her dealings with them.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

And that is part of her grace, that she never let it be known how she really felt.

I am sadder than I thought I would be at the news.

* I’m assuming you mean an implement used in the game of cricket rather than the insect 😁.

The only monarch most people have ever known.

Quite amazing to think that she was never even supposed to be in line for the throne at birth.

She's done a stellar job, whether you like the idea of a monarchy or not. She said she'd spend her life in service and she has.

RIP QEII

Much sader than I thought I'd be. Thrust into the job at a young age and never stopping. There's a lot to be said for a leader who can stay above the fray like that.

I would think the realization that you would have to meet with John Major or Tony Blair every week for the next five years would make anyone  want to abdicate.

And how about having the Trumps to dinner?

I’m 68, I might get to see 2 more monarchs, most younger than me will see more. The Queen came to the throne at a very young age, that won’t happen for several generations now, barring ill health and accidents of course.

It does beg the question. What next for King Charles III?

Does he reign to an old, old age, for the next 20+ years, or does he have a short reign, abdicate, retire and pass the torch to a younger, more dynamic sovereign?

Maybe that's a thread on it's own, so as not to muddy the tributary nature of this one.

I too was surprised at my sadness in a dusty room. Irrelevant of what people think of the monarchy The Queen as a person was a role model for many. I often thought of what her response would be to a situation that didn’t sit well with me and then her, 'never explain never complain,' words always came to mind. She inspired many. After her grandson and wife’s documentary with Oprah, I admired her response. 'recollections may vary...' The ultimate voice of wisdom.

She deserves admiration. She smilingly swore in a Prime Minister 2 days before her death, working till the last moment and never giving up. I wish she could see and hear the response today of all the people worldwide who mourn her and that she touched. RIP special lady.
