The "Make an offer" is only available for buyers via the TM app, so they may not have had ability to use it, hence the question :)

Well that seems like a strange omission by TM.

This is par for the course with Trademe. They introduced messaging functionality recently, but it only works on the app. If a buyer messages you through the app but you don't use notifications enabled for the app, then you don't get any notification that they've messaged you, and they wonder why you aren't responding.

More broadly, these third party workarounds wouldn't be needed if TM actually policed their marketplace with some basic bulk processes to ban (or at least warn) users with poor feedback. I had a time waster win one of my auctions, and consistent with their feedback history they ghosted me. By my estimate, their rating had been in the order of 50% positive for over nine months before they bid on my auction (in other words, every second auction win they decided not to go through with). I emailed Trademe and they made some blanket statement around expecting a feedback rating of at least 95% - but clearly they don't do anything proactive in enforcing that. It would not be hard to run a monthly process warning users with a sub 95% feedback rating of an impending ban, and banning them the following month if the rating deteriorates further.

Use Bidbud and you can set it to auto remove any bid from someone with a feedback percentage below x percent... I have mine at 95% but sometimes it still feels like it should be higher

I didn't realise Bidbud could help with seller.

I might re-enable my account again. 🙂

I solely use Bidbud for listing stuff, so much easier than the Next / Next / Next crap on TM. Scheduling listing time is neat too.

For the amount of success fee you pay on selling stuff, they should have upped the game bloody years ago. The site is a disgusting mess of old/new UI (should have left well enough alone tbh) and not having all the options on one or 2 pages when listing something is infuriating. Removing the community pages was a shit move as well, basically taking away the option for anyone to publicly complain about them or post something that is (GOD FORBID) not PC.

Back to the topic at hand - if you know what you're doing, hiding your checker is not too hard. Im obviously not going to say how to on a public message board as that might help put the kibosh what you're trying to do ;)
