Geektastic:

My Leica M10-R camera and lenses. Still made by hand in Germany. No unecessary bells and whistles (eg no 5 focus modes, 25 programmable function buttons, GPS, blah blah. Not even the ability to shoot video) just simple photographic tools of superlative quality!

I'd be frightened to take it out of the house!!

Office Furniture Hire - National Genius NE8060 Microwave ...

My National microwave. It was a wedding present some 40 years ago. It's still in daily use.

We had one of those, 40 or so years back when microwaves were a new thing. Oh the joys (😢) of mum trying out all these snazzy new recipes such as microwave roasts and meatloafs.

Meh. Insurance. People usually just ask me if it’s an old vintage film camera!

The downside is I’d have to replace it with an M11 now and I like the older camera better.

My Hongdui mitre gauge.

HONGDUI HD-TB01 Precision Miter Gauge 0-70 Degree Woodworking Table Saw Push Han Sale - Banggood New Zealand

Table saws typically come with a flimsy and inaccurate mitre gauge.  This Hongdui unit is the opposite of that it's accurate and has several useful features.  It's also a very pleasing design.  All for $250.  I also bought a telescopic fence to go with it, made by Enjoywood.  It's similarly well made, works well and good value.

I think I've spent more on add-ons and accessories for my table saw than the table saw actually cost!

You should get someone to check the radiation leakage on that thing. My Grandparents had a really old one, and holy mackerel when they tested it, it was terrifying.

Are you suggesting I should not have three arms and a symbiote?

They all leak slightly, did they get the new replacement tested for comparison?

My parents had a National TV, it worked beautifully for decades. Eventually ended up having to throw it away.

My Wahl Super Taper hair clippers bought in 1998. I haven't paid for a hair cut in the 25yrs since. The only maintenence I've had to perform is a quick once over with the blades on a sharpening stone every ~2yrs.

They were my go-to for a very long time.

I did a hairdressing apprenticeship and was told in no uncertain terms that the Wahl Supertaper was the best clipper on the market and should be the first thing I buy after a comb, scissors and blowdryer.

I still have them, 35+ years later

When I grew up on deer farm, Wahl were the go-to when TB testing deer.  A 100mm x 100mm patch had to be shaved on each deer's neck. As you might imagine, this  a process the deer is most definitely NOT down with.So you need clippers that are fast, stay sharp and aren't too noisy.  Wahl.

Yes, the old one was 8 times higher!

The result numbers would be more useful. The usual sky is falling warnings talk of failing rubber seals on the doors. How old would a microwave have to be for that style of door? The usual door since mid 80s has just been tight fitting with an interlock that short circuits the Rf source unless door closed. One comment was older microwave lose power so are more likely to result in food poisoning because they don't cook thoroughly.
