This only applies to consumers. Dealing directly with a factory in China for a trade purchase won't be covered by the CGA.

Also, unless the 'C' in that now stands for "China", I doubt it'll be covered at all.

@tehgerbil - As a few have inferred,
The NZ CGA act is irrelevant and not applicable to goods purchased directly from overseas(or from overseas suppliers including (Amazon and Aliexpress etc) .

And the CGA is not even applicable to goods purchased in NZ for business purposes.

It's often nice to hear the outcome of a thread,

It was well worth doing and NZ Post was cheapist at just over $40 for tracked delivery and an eta of 10 days.
