lurker:

I'm just curious, does the film involve conspiracies about why the children are being trafficked?

Have read a lot of conflicting stories. It seems it's just a movie about child trafficking and the efforts of an organisation to save kids.

Do they refer to QAnon conspiracies at all? Or are the objections to the film just based around the fact that the lead star is (as I understand) associated with this?

There were no references to conspiracies at all - the storyline is around the rescue of two (specific, sibling) children who have been kidnapped and sold into sex slavery; drug cartels are involved.

Some stories emerged about a woman who was sexually assaulted by Ballard (the "hero").

Now, more stories come to light.

5 women sue Tim Ballard, alleging sex assault by Operation Underground Railroad founder | KSL.com

So, he's not a hero after all. And a pervert.

The Mormon church condemned Tim Ballard for “unauthorized use” of the church leader's name for personal advantage and “activity regarded as morally unacceptable.” Tim Ballard claimed a passage in the Book of Mormon justified performing “unconventional” tasks

Mormons have created a number of spin-off sects, mostly scattered around Utah.

These sects seem to rely on selling supplements as a source of income, and Tim Ballard’s no exception.

From Twitter:

Tim Ballard’s latest act: selling supplements called Freedom, which he says were developed with an “undercover operator” in the field fighting human trafficking.

Just another scammer, using "think of the children" as a way to make some quick buck (and assault women).

Just as we thought. The whole thing was scammy & hypocritical to begin with. Even the film's director thinks it's gone overboard.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell
