I've noticed an increase in people sending me unsolicited 'sector reports', invitations to webinars and invitations of speak at conferences.  Never relevant to my field of work or role.  I just block the domain for every sender of this guff.

Behodar:

things seem to have quietened down again in the past day or two.

And now they're ramping up again.

I have seen a huge uptick in the number of false positives in my gmail spam folder that I am having to actually look in it to find password reset and login confirmation emails for sites that I have used in the past.

The junk mail filter in iCloud is very strange. I can mark an email as junk, and then a subsequent email that looks exactly the same will not get automatically detected as junk, yet an unrelated legitimate email will land in the junk folder. It's a perfect example of how tech companies oversell the features of their products.

Yeah you need to look at the source of the email.

The junk you see can be just a small percentage of the actual email, the majority obscured with HTML so it never visually shows. Each spam can contain just pages of random text, pages out of books, stuff hidden in graphics.

It's a war with neither side winning.

Our spam filter does a pretty good job at wining that war. Can’t be that difficult when they so frequently start their emails with “Dear Sir/Madam”.

Just received a text from 771005 with a "price increase notice" notifying some price increases and send "Stop" to opt-out. No company name?  771005 comes from a bulk email company. Anyone had similar?
