Didn't Firstin get sold earlier this year? I remember seeing a banner stating they were under new ownership? Or is that one of those things I make up to feel like I'm contributing? Hmm. Anyway, I ordered a product from them in November 08 for an Xmas present, arrived three days before Xmas, took over a month to come. To their credit they emailed me regurally to update me on its status.
Edit: Speeling

Hi 01EG, any luck at all?

I also bought the Lacor 9" Digital Photo Frame and am still waiting to receive it.
I've talked with Adam on the phone trwice, and at first was also able to get responses via their new Helpdesk blog.  However, since then it's all fallen apart...

No luck at all. Got I phone call from Adam a few days ago, but I missed it and he left a message for me. He asked me if I'm happy to get an another brand of digital photo frame. I sent email saying "yes, thats fine". But that he gone again.

Please keep me informed if you got something and I will too.

I purchased 2 dvd players from them 3 weeks ago, still haven't received the products and now he won't reply to emails or phone messages.

They're still posting new products every day but they're not following through with delivery

I would warn EVERYONE to stay away from firstin.co.nz

He's pissed the wrong people off and I'm going to hunt him down.
My order was only about $120 but it's the principal of the matter, you don't screw people over and expect to get away with it.

Good

I got email from him last Friday(?), asking if I got my item. He wrote he sent it last Wednesday by courier, BUT I got NOTHING. Is courier lost?

I'm surprised you got any response from him. I've had nothing in 2 weeks and have been waiting 3 weeks for the items.

I've decided to report him to the police because as far as I'm concerned he's committing fraud. He's taking people's money and not delivering the goods.
That's a fraud

If he was responding to ANY form of communication then I would be less harsh but actions speak louder than words and as far as I'm concerned he's a criminal now and he should be shut down.

KravenMore, I agree entirely.
Not sure how one would proceed with such things but I feel there is few avenues left.

Should we try Disputes Tribunal first(Trade Me suggested it too)? If does not help then, well, we can report to the police?

OR May be we should ask TV One breakfast program what they think about it as I understood he was selected as ITRockstar ? Ye, right

**update**

Well, things happen quickly some times.

Not two seconds after my last post, I tried again to call and this time I got Adam Brown on the phone.  He advised that, as per email last week (which I have not received) they have refunded the purchase price for me and a number of other people who ordered the Lacor 9" Digital Photo Frame.

The refund was (supposedly) processed on Friday, so should show on my credit card in the next day or two.
It does not show yet (I checked immediately) - perhaps I'm a sucker but I am going to wait a day or two before I call him a liar.

Seems that the courier that went missing is actually from the supplier to FirstIn - they ordered three cartons of this product but only received two.  Therefore there will be a number of other people receiving this refund.

So, 01EG, that will hopefully be good news for you too.

Will let you know if I receive the refund (or not).

BTW: I sent him this forum link, so, I'm sure he is reading this forum.

Good! Glad to hear someone is getting at least some response from him.

I hope he does read this thread and take action on it.

If we don't hear from him within the next few days I'll post an email address for people to give contact and order details to so I can take as many claims to the police or whoever they deem it should go to.

I have had pretty good dealings with firstin in the past, even with Adam himself but I've been waiting too long and he's been ignoring my emails/helpdesk requests and phone calls for too long.
If he can't handle the workload, he needs to do something about it, at the very least, put up a not eon the website saying you're swamped and are taking longer than usual to deal with orders.
You don't just ignore customers, not if you want to stay in business that is.

If you don't want to appear to be ripping people off, respond!

There are at least several threads on various NZ message boards with disgruntled customers, a quick google search shows that.

Also, if Firstin is no longer located in Featherston St, it's fradulent to continue to advertise this on the website.

It's not till things don't go 100% according to plan and retailers need to take action that you find out just how good they really are. I'm really dissapointed in Firstin and Adam Brown.

OK, the refund is showing on my online credit card statement this morning - took a bit longer than I would have thought, but came through in the end!

I've just cancelled my daily email subscription with FirstIn based on this thread and similar feedback I received from a colleague who had purchased something from them in the past.  No way I'd risk my money on this place if this is the way their service is.
