johno1234:

You'd think that this would be a serious breech of employment agreement?

The employment agreement probably prohibits resale of stock purchased using an employee discount, but may not cover stock purchased at full price.

I imagine that at a corporate level they will only care if a) the behaviour creates a risk of damaging their relationship with a major supplier or b) the behaviour creates a risk of reputational damage.

I imagine the only way to get traction at a corporate level would be to get some underemployed journo (e.g. from The Spinoff? seems to be up their alley) to do a "scoop" and investigate and start asking questions to TWL corporate affairs office...

Post on r/NewZealand and NZ Herald may jump in with an article (seems to happen quite often).

Ideally after 2, one to open, one to keep as original.

This looks vaguely familiar - I think I've seen one of these recently. I'll grab it for you if I see it again, I'm out at the shops today.

Somewhat unrelated to this, but it makes me feel less silly buying HWs.

I'm mainly in it for the stupid silly ones for my son, but at least I know it's less weird me buying a bunch up.

Not HW but I was in the warehouse a few years back looking at lego sets.  I was in my late 30's and this lady asked me which one I am getting for my child.  I looked at her and said "stuff the child, it's for me" she found that entertaining.

LOL yeah, thats another item that gets purchased "for the kids" - wife and I are somebody's kids :D However, don't tend to have much trouble sourcing the sets we want compared to HW ;)

Hi, I was in a local retailer store in Timaru yesterday, he had a table full of hot wheel cars for sale. It caught my eye as I hadn't seen them cars for years. Some of the pricing I noticed was around $8 o $10 per car. Not sure why he was selling them as he runs a furniture store. If you interested I could take a photo of the table for you?

BTW, anyone who has loose Hot Wheels from their kids, and happy to move them on for a few $, let me know :)

I mainly collect "real" cars than the fantasy style stuff, but always adding to the collection with whatever is out there :)

Hot Wheels collecting looks to be almost as problematic as Tackle Acquisition Syndrome.

Looking at image again, can see some pricing... hes being a scalper. $10 for current ones that can be picked up for $3 at Warehouse etc. :(

Yep thats the way it goes. Not just JDM, I collect Land Rover Defender HW. Same deal, hard to find in store and end up on TM etc for $10+ for mainline.

Also FWIW I know some HW collectors (scalpers?) will offer (with management) to unpack the boxes at TWH. For free labour they get first pick. So its not just TWH staff that do this.
