freitasm: Whoa. Something is up. So many reviews posted in the last few hours.

Google reviews is similar and people seem to have been affected for about 5 days. Yet no information on their website.

I find you have to login via the NZ version of the website and not the login Google gives you otherwise you get an error that you are behind a vpn

I got the VPN message this morning, then a bit later the login button didn't work at all. Strange how quiet the company is.

How do you get a credit lock? I take it to mean no one, including yourself, would be able to use your name to get credit from anyone? Or from specific agencies?

A PIN gets put on your account if access is required.  Too bad this isn't the default behavior where you could get something akin to a 2FA request to allow it to be opened.

My Credit Report Freeze July 2022 (centrix.co.nz)

I was also under the impression that if you placed a lock with any of the agencies that this was shared with the others but I'm not seeing that info.

I was affected by the Latitude/Gem Visa breach. I found that some of the credit agencies offer to request the credit file lock with the other agencies, and others don't.

It's very poor that you need to keep proactively requesting the lock. Yet another instance where the individuals rights come last.

Interesting - I have an active account with LayBuy, yet I've not had an email from them.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

They've started replying on Trust Pilot, doesn't exactly put anyone's mind at ease!

In one hand they're copy pasting everyone 'its not exactly our fault your account may have been used in fraud'

While in another "it's currently in the queue for our Customer Service team to review. We are currently experiencing higher than usual customer contact and do thank you for your patience."

Oh dear. How long until a potential breach is confirmed

There's lots of phishing warning for misuse of account. But they seem to be targeting known acct holders?

Just attempting to find a correlation here for a reason for the notice - my card on file was long expired and so are a lot of people's cards that I've talked to who have received the warning e-mail....others who have current cards with them have not received the e-mail

The VPN warning goes away for me only when I disable Malwarebytes Browser Guard. I deactivated the account anyway --- and now I get lots of marketing e-mails from them 🤣

Mine wasn't expired, but the bank had cancelled it. They never replied to my email about receiving the email. But I have now requested the account be deleted.
