There would be no more “who” left on the light with this fine HUE kit. It would allow some easy smartness to control the hallway lights for the kids (when they simply don’t care and leave them on), and provide a wee lamp to be used instead of a 10 bulb lounge light where the dimmer is busted.

I'd use in our community theatre. We've just constructed a tech booth and have been considering Philips Hue for lighting. Can be bright when we need it to be but dimmed and the colour changed to blue during a show. Hue can be integrated with our existing DMX controlled lighting rig and we've used it successfully before - but had to borrow a bridge and bulbs from various cast and crew members. Would be wonderful to have a bridge and be able to build our own resources instead of relying on borrowing!

I would use these in the lounge, that would dim and change to red when watching movies. This would also mean they don't get left on, as they will be programmed to switch off.

As illustrated by the photo below, that I like to title "Floyd's Lounge By Night" , I am in serious need of a new lighting system.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

I would install in the bedroom and connect to homekit so i can get siri to turn off the lights when i'm in bed

Would love this, as being free the wife cant complain about cost, and she may finally come round to accepting some home automation in the house :) Also the dog would appreciate some light of a night time so he dosent fall down the stairs going to the toilet.

More a safety aspect for my elderly parents programmed to provide night lights possibly with a motion sensor for those overnight bathroom visits rather than the instant bright light that disturbs each other now. I bought them a couple of TP-Link smart plugs to replace manual timers that turned lamps on and off for Christmas so would quietly extend the pseudo home automation. Then they can raise more questions like “how do you change the time in the timers” as happened when daylight saving ended.

Partners house has really bad plug and switch placement, so some of the switches to control lights are behind appliances like the microwave. Be nice to use this to automate them so I can stop struggling to get my hand into tight spaces just to turn a bulb on and off. Also useful for security, have the lights go on and off while you're away so it doesn't look like the place is unsupervised.

We're installing a louvre roof and shutters to create an outdoor room. We were getting RGB lighting, but we had to cut back, and it went in the "nice to have but not doing bucket." This would replace and complement it so much. I bought the Philips Ambilight TV (to put outside and cover for the RGB) and have been looking for a portable and programmable light for the other side. It's sad how a 40k project became 50k priced, then it was racing to 60k when I had to hit the brakes HARD.
