Slightly OT, but where did you get your bottles from please?
Mitre10. I can’t see that size on their website but I found them in store (Hornby, Chch) and they are Gasmate brand.
There was a post here a few days ago discussing Frank energy which appears to have been deleted. I posted the following info for people who are Farmlands members, as this could be an option. https://farmlands.co.nz/FarmlandsCard/KeyCardPartners/Energy--Gas/MeridianEnergy/index.html
They have a fixed 5 year plan. I worry what the power prices are going to look like in 5 years.

Any indication on the rates under that offer? Presumably you'll be paying a higher rate for the cost certainly - bit like how mortgage rates are normally higher for longer terms.

It was another post from a free days ago that got deleted. You should phone them because they are very slow to respond. The rates were cheaper for my area than other providers I looked at.

For me, Frank was the cheapest in the area especially before they yanked the LPG. I get my LPG from a local company that supplies the big ones now but stayed with Frank for power.
Ecotricity is one of the next best price wise (and who I switched from for Frank) but obviously there’s no point moving back to them!
So it’s back to hunting for a new supplier, which I hate.
Similar, Frank for power only was a great deal for us in the AKL area. Looking at powerswitch, the next 5 "best" offerings are power shop. And those are providing we take advantage of purchasing packets or the like on Tuesdays, mucking around with deals and what not on certain times.
Powershop comes up next best for us too on the Powerswitch web site but only based on optimising their power pack deals. Who the heck wants to dick around with that?
Genesis comes up next best with a 12 month contract. Still a fair bit more than I was paying. Comparing adding their LPG (which we use for hot water and stovetop) it’s still cheaper for me to stick to the local LPG supplier.
@behodar, We live in the same general area. Are you using LPG? Take a look at Bob’s Gas if you are. They deliver for all the other companies but also sell direct. Based in Whakatane, sell to Eastern Bay.
Nah, just electricity for me. I've seen the Bob's trucks around :)
Powershop rates were expensive for my location as was their daily rate. It maybe cheaper with the free credit and maybe the power add ons. But I have been with them before and it spending time buying add ons through an app ona regular bays in order to get better pricing is wasting my time.
Waiting to see what happens to ecotricitys buyback rates. I was going to shift to them as I will be getting more solar installed so so will hopefully have an excess over my usage. Might not bother shifting if they will be going away soon. The rest of the rates were within spitting distance of what I pay mercury.

Flick is gone too!
Been discussed here already: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=48&topicid=319611
Also soon to ex Frank(ie). Looked in Powerswitch. Thought ElectricKiwi was (is) a possibility, did their how much will you save thing and the result was 'you're already on a pretty good plan', which I guess means they're more expensive. How much more, no idea.
Needs are simple - no EV's, no solar anything, electric water heating plus the odd heatpump / electric heater.

I came here looking for answer like this..
So Powershop comes up as my best alternative to Frank but buying these packs on a certain day of the month EVERY month looks like a real hassle. Also the Powerswitch site didnt supply Powershops standard rates at all so i can only go on the Powerswitch site telling me that ill be better off.
How much of a hassle are buying these packs and are they even worth it if the daily/kwh rates are better or as good as Franks current rates?
EDIT:
Found a list of Powershops local rates and using the daily rate and yearly kWh average with my latest Frank Bill at the standard Powershop rates for my latest power account i'd be $50 worse off with Powershop.
Chat GPT recommended that I do seasonal switching and Identity switching, So for summer I go with ecocity for that sweet evening solar export and in winter I go with powershop, Alternate the accounts holders Identity for any new user deals.

The problem with EK in my area is the massive rate for on peak. It is 66c per kWh. When the off peak shoulder is 39 c. Fine though if you minimise power use during that time, but the evening is when you need heating. The free hour does offset that a bit and you can then crank everything on at 9pm for free power.
luckily all my water heating is instant gas. It is very cheap to run. Gas is getting bad press but it should be supported and in overseas countries some are moving to bio gas which is a lot better. There seems to be an anti gas lobby in NZ pushing everyone to electric only, but NZ doesn’t have the generation for that.
