Here is final outcome for this issue.

We had a new smart meter fitted on 15 August.

In my August Mercury Energy bill I was credited with a total of 612 kWh of solar generation (which is what both the old and new smart meter showed).

So Mercury Energy gave me everything I was entitled to.

I am happy with the final outcome, but it took a long time to get this fixed.
