I've got to the point I no longer trust anything claiming to be leather that doesn't look 100% hide and no tell-tale resin down the side to give away it's really 'split leather' and going to separate soon after. Have 2 real leather ones, one of which has been going well over 20 years now.

Not a lot of luck with canvas since early 90s. Latest one being polyester and slipping in the teeth after a few months.

My interest has perked in the LionVII canvas. But appears to be mixed reviews. Not terribly priced if the local experience has been little to no slip

shk292:

I’m quite pleased with this one from Amazon. Definitely casual rather than smart. Only criticism is it’s slightly more fiddly to fasten and unfasten than the similar metal buckles

I've bought a few belts from Aliexpress recently. Your one from Amazon looks very similar to one I bought for $2.92.

I also bought one of these and one of these and can recommend them although they've got bigger buckles which might dig in and can be difficult to thread through the belt loops on some jeans.

I got a couple of belts from Aliexpress a few years ago that are pretty much the same as the smart belt (just aliexpress quality/split leather) They've lasted a significant weight drop and a bit of a weight increase. I'm only looking at replacing them now as the stitching around the outside is starting to go white and fray a little, but given I spent ~$20 incl freight to get them, they were a good deal.

Gordy7: Was a belt user now use braces...

I have wondered about that from time to time. Braces in many scenarios are often the better trouser solution and far more comfortable allowing more movement and no restriction on the stomach and hips etc. I feel like I need to match colour and style a lot more with braces to make the 'look' aspect work. I only know enough about fashion to know I'm a bit clueless in that area. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Was waiting for someone to suggest them. Absolutely a braces/suspenders fan. Think Gordon Gecko in Wall Street. Look super cool with a white or blue shirt. Especially the deep burgundy ones with little designs on them or striped ones. Stand out cool.

@gzt for every day just choose denim look or navy. Wear them underneath a polo or jumper but over top of a shirt. Wear the fancier ones to make a statement. 3 to 4 cm wide for dressier and 2.5cm for every day. You can get fancy priced ones and Temu priced which look just as good.

Belts were causing me hip and sciatic problems. I switch to braces and after a couple of years my problems went away.

I dont usually wear any high tech braces... just clip on ones costing about $30 to $40.

Braces are fun at Christmas too. As I no longer wear fancy ties (and suits) I receive all sorts of colourful braces gifts.
