Mate, you're not the only one who wondered about this - I think by now we've all realised the ditty could be done much better in oh-so-many ways :o)

Well, you can all rest easy now... it's not on air any more (as far as I am aware) and they are no doubt moving onto other, more pressing, social engineering...

Like "Sunbathe to the conditions, when they change reduce your hats"

Or "Smack your children to the conditions; when they change use the wooden spoon"

Or "Save for your retirement to the conditions; when they change buy another Big Wednesday ticket"

It's simple. Every time the conditions change (whether for better or worse), you must reduce your speed.

If you are on a particularly long road trip with changeable weather then this might mean you end up slowing down so much you actually go into reverse, and end up back at your starting point (potentuially travelling incredibly fast in reverse).

Reduce your speed not your velocity! You can't reduce your speed below 0m/s!

No.. the ditty was great - everyone knows what it is, eh :D Obviously they need to focus on the general need for people to slow down, not speed up... so whilst it's not literally accurate in the case of all 'changes' it does focus on the key message, and slower is generally safer than faster, etc etc...

Sorry to rain on your parade and bump and old thread but too many people moaning about the 'reduce your speed' thing is infuriating. _Obviously_ you can increase speed if safe to do so - but that's not really the key message, nor intent of the ad - is it?

After driving to Auckland and back last weekend. I hereby propose a new jingle:

"If you drive between 80 and 90 then speed up at overtaking lanes you're a dick"

Catchy don't you think?

So instead of being the bugger who's holding up the traffic you want to be the bugger who drives the late model car that drives at excessive speeds, tailgates, overtakes in dangerous situations, makes everyone else intimidated and generally annoys everyone else on the road? Isn't that exchanging one evil for another?
