The moral of the story - big box stores can be a bit of a trap when it comes to warranty and repairs.

In comparison - my fiance's mum - took over 1 month to get a faulty motherboard sorted
My last PC from Global PC - faulty motherboard - I had to wait ONE DAY to have it replaced and up and running again.

On-site repairs FTW!

lol, u and i are on the same boat man!!! they are trying to fix my vacuum for over 3 weeks now.....

Harvey Norman, very irritating as are many of the Australian companies adverts. I try to buy elsewhere now as a direct result.

I have had vey few problems with retailers but if they start giving me any uneasonable problems, I start videoing them, strangely all of a sudden they are your best friend because they are quite aware fom all the cop shows and the like that video doesn't lie.

EDIT MOD RC: Im sure it was a typo on the company name ;)

hmmmm, videoing? seems like an awsm idea, i might even give it a go next time i go back to harvey norman for my vacuum!!!

got a reply from the customer care people, i guess theres is no option but to walk down to the shop in person.

here's the reply from them :

"Thank you for your email.

For the sake of clarity Harvey Norman Stores are operated by independent Franchisees. As such, we are unable to review your information at Corporate Office.

Our Customer Liaison Officer will pursue this matter with the Franchisee concerned.

The Franchisee will contact you shortly.

Wait 1 day and if you haven't heard back, then ring back the Corporate Office, ask for the Customer Liaison Officer, and give them a bit of stick .... if you can't get the Customer Liaison Officer, then ask for their manager. Make sure you get names along the way. Ask for their names, and spell them out back to them to confirm correct spelling.

Obvously you STILL haven't heard back from the original franchise as yet, despite leaving messages ?
Which store was it, so I know to avoid it ....

I wouldn't recommend taking a video. Nobody likes being filmed without their consent and if you're going onto private property with your camera and they object, it isn't hard to get your picture plastered across all their stores with a tresspass notice which could include any malls that contain HN branches.
Something to consider?
From experience, the cool, calm and reasonable customers get MUCH better service than the ones that jump up and down misquoting the consumer guarantees act.

Yep. Found that out the hard way just trying to take pictures of the Imax Cinema in Auckland (doing the "tourist" thing) because I thought the angles of the architecture were interesting.

Security had other ideas.

I wanted to take photos of the Bunnings Warehouse in Vermont South, Melbourne (it's near Ramsey Street (Pin Oak Court) and at the time, maybe still, was the largest Bunnings Warehouse in the world). They had to ring Head Office to get clearance. Funny...

hey mate, finally got my vaccumme cleaner back with an apology from some guy who said he was the manager of the place. Told him an apology is fine but they should look into improving their customer service since things shouldnt come to this stage.

anyway the shop i bought from was at Te-rakau drive opposite Pak 'n Save.
