vinnieg: And I mean physically smells, has anyone else noticed this?

The last 4-5 times I've been in, it's smelt like someone had crapped their pants.

I think it could be the buffing/polish used on the floor? It's so rank, I can't be in there more than 5 minutes otherwise I make stupid purchases to try get out...good excuse for the missus though:

"I went in to get a set of headphones, but it smelt so bad I walked over to the TV aisle and bought a new 26" TV for our room"

Yes, when I first went in there last year, I almost gagged when I went in. It smells like someone has puked. It is an offensive smell. When I went in a few months ago, it still smelled, but not quite as bad. Don't know if it is costing them business, but it is not a pleasant environment.

I've sent an email to management of JB Hifi NZ, I'll also go in and speak to the floor manager I think and ask him if he's had any similar complaints.

It's annoying with a big sale coming up and then thinking, oh crap

Did a google search on 'JB HIFI smells', and found this website from over a year ago! I would think they know about the problem. I think it could possibily be their ventilation/airconditioning and bacteria.

It can't be helping their cause being right next to a food court. But did LV Martin have any problems when it was in the same spot?

That wouldn't be the reason, because food courts exists in malls without problems. I never noticed the problem at LV martins, and the food court was there too. Infact the food court has been there for many years, and I never noticed any problems with the shops when it was still the BNZ shopping mall, before the refurb.

+1 I couldn't agree more, I do not bother going to that store anymore. Its a musty yucky smell. Maybe it has something to do with the sewers nearby...

yeah that's right, they had carpet down there too didn't they?  Maybe it's the old carpet glue, although I think they currently have oak laminate down there now?

Oops, this thread comes up if you search for JB Hifi Wellington...4th place in google just under JB Hifi contact details, hahaha
