old3eyes: I see that Newzbin got clobbered by the MPAA in a UK court this week. Pity. I use then for TV programs..

About time there was some ligitimate sources for this sort of content in this part of the world but with the likes of TVNZ and Mediaworks controlling what you watch it will be very unlikely..

EZTV ? been around for a long time... think the main reason they keep going is that they only do TV shows and nothing else. All the shows get shown FTA (well most of the time) at some point or another......... altho the advertisers lose out.

The US court ruled, in late December 2009, in Summary Judgment that we were liable for secondary copyright infringement, you may have read about it in the news. What you have not heard however is what happened since the status conference in January. The Judge, at the status conference, agreed to provide us after the injunction phase, but before the damages phase, with an interlocutory appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Before we appeal however, we must undergo injunction motions and that's what we are doing now. Plaintiffs have filed their motion with their proposed measure for injunction a couple of weeks ago. The Plaintiffs proposed injunction and its keyword type filter, in our view, raises serious issues on the balance between freedom of speech, fair use and copyright protectionism. Such keyword filter is also impossible to implement if it's to have any sort of precision, nor can it avoid conflict with fair use cases, free commerce, or extra-territorial law. We have just filed our response in opposition:

A reason for isoHunt Lite is that we propose it as a measure for injunction, as it no longer contains any red flags for inducement that were found at Summary Judgment. And without inducement, an important question with wide ramifications we can then ask is, when does a content agnostic search engine that specializes in a vertical like the BitTorrent ecosystem be ineligible for the DMCA Safe Harbors, an information location tool like isoHunt that has both non-infringing and infringing uses? When non-infringing uses in the ecosystem is growing, exemplified by the latest independent success stories like in Ink?

We will have an injunction hearing on March 22. Our appeal will follow after that, stay tuned.

UPDATE (after hearing): Despite rumors that we are ordered to keyword filter for US, there's only a proposed order, no actual order. Freedom of speech, non-infringing use and technical implementability issues are still being debated.

Yes. Look at it every day but I'm not a fan of P2P. Usenet is way safer..

I can think of plenty of TV programs on EZTV that haven't as yest or will never be shown here..

Fail to understand why people use Torrents in the first place download speeds are rubbish I tried it once and was put of by the recommendations i should allow sharing from my pc otherwise your nothing but a leecher type of thing. Plus you dont know what your getting, first and only download from torrents ended not what i thought it would be. Amercias army 2 online game I instead got some video on the history of Scotland!

Ive been using Rapidshare / Megaupload for years now with Jdownloader manager. Jdownloader you grab all the RS or MU links say 30 of em and add it to JD then hit the download button. JD will bypass the wait time as rapidshare free users have to wait 15-90min between each download, JD just somehow bypasses that so each link is instant. It will even add the code required for each link. lol Brilliant program created by some German company. The old way use to be for freeusers having to disconnect internet after each dl to bypass the waiting time. JD solved that!

PirateBay is still alive and kicking and still has the world biggest trackers.

pretty sure they are no longer a tracker. they now use open trackers. its just a search engine now like google.

What they have done quite cleverly is opened up a new domain name called openbittorrent.com. This still points to the pirate bay IP addresses but in the event that thepiratebay is ordered down, openbittorrent tracker still exists. In all torrents now there are two trackers: thepiratebay and openbittorrent

With magnet links etc starting up and the uptake of DHT, soon it will be far too difficult for anyone to shut these sites down. All it will take is a search of google to find a magnet link, then people will be away.

Can hardly call a magnet link (TEXT) copyright infringement
