It started raining here (Whakatane) at about 2:00 but wasn't windy. Currently there's a gentle sunshower that looks like it'll stop any moment now. It doesn't seem very stormy...

It's been quite bad here today in Feilding actually.
Huge gusts of wind, along with rain.

Furniture survived the day rain decided to hold off. Its pouring down now. One of our tree's is shredding branches. Dropped mum and dad off at their mates for dinner and on drive back at round 7ish there was lightning every minute or so. Unreal. Had to pull over a few times as rain was just shocking.

Been snowing and hailing and sleeting all day here in Invercargill. Currently an inch or two of snow/hail on the ground, and a few flurries of snow falling.

As much as I hate the snow, I'm actually enjoying it, since my job is weather observer. When this storm first touched our shores the other day, I released my weather balloon, with distant lightning behind it. No fireball in the sky thank goodness...

Going over the harbour bridge this evening in the wind was, err, interesting... Just glad my car is relatively heavy and low, wouldn't like to be out in a high-sided truck tonight!

Muppet of the night award goes to the guy towing the enormous 'Tenby Powell for Council' mobile billboard in Herne Bay - mate, what on earth made you think that towing a big, tall billboard on one of the windiest nights for ages was a good idea?!

Time to turn on? I don't think mine has been off for about 4 months... Have wound the thermostat up quite a but to counteract for the draft thru the place.

High wind really expose crap joinery for what it is.

The winds really picking up over here now. Roof is making scary as hell noises. Opened a window in kitchen like we were told to do as apparently it relieves pressure and stops roof blowing away. You guys might wanna do the same if its even worse in your part.
