c71931f: You can't tint any road legal vehicle, fully. Max is 5% (i think) for vans..

Well that just does not make sense. There are plenty of non MA class vehicles, that have a VLT of 0%, the prime example being vehicles with full sticker overlays.

Which happens to be what i want to do on the rear window, well, not quite full, 3/4ths or it.

Can't get a van. Way out of the project budget. I have to stick to my current car.
What about what people said on the previous page? About changing the registration so that it is a commercial vehicle?
My point is though, if you can't see out the rear windows anyway, why does it matter? If you haven't seen the pic in my first post you might want to take a look at it.

c71931f: Too late to edit the above post, but the limit for van's seems to be nothing now.. Pretty sure it was 5% earlier this year tho.

As per a lot of the previous posts.

It would only be legal if it came like that from wherever it was made etc. My altezza is tinted at the back 20 or 25% & it's only legal because it was factory glass/came like that... Cops have already tried telling me it was illegal, i just laughed.

Full sticker overlay? Are you referring to tints or something else..?

Correct, if it was tinted like that from the manufacturer it is legal.

Full sticker overlays, like on the backs of vans/station wagons, where they are usually advertising a company. They will often have small dots in them, so if required, they can still use their internal rear view mirror.

Rollux: Best bet would be take your car to VTNZ, show them what you want to do and ask if it is possible.
+1

Why take the risk making any major changes without checking with them first?

As I understand it you can't conceal people in the back seats.  That's pretty much what it came down to.  It's about safety for police officers sort of thing rather than anything to do with obstructing the drivers view, which is where it all gets a bit silly.

-1 Half the time they don't have a clue them self. (Well seems to be how they are down here anyway)

I would talk to my local cert guy, more likely to have an actual clue.
