Have you thought about a cruise?

Great for kids - they look after them really well.
One up front price for all accomodation and more food than you could eat.
Don't have to worry about luggage allowances (if you are departing and arriving from/in Auckland)
They go to the Islands - so there are beaches (and a pool or 3 on board)
Fairly cheap if you book early.

I did a small cruise last year (and I was one who said I'd be bored s**tless on a cruise) and we had a blast - there is as much or as little to do as you like, and the service is great. I'm looking forward to my next one now.
