But again, it sounds like you're basically just saying Sharepoint is bad because it's Sharepoint. Here's another Sharepoint installation:

http://www.microsoft.com/

Would you say THAT's slow? Or that it's "not very strong as a public facing website"?

(For what it's worth, I've used many content management systems, including Sharepoint. Sharepoint actually takes the cake for ease of use - Kentico confused the ever living daylights out of me, Umbraco just seems needlessly complex, DotNetNuke is an oversized abomination, and Sitefinity, well. $$$$).

Well I agree that dotnetnuke is awful, interesting you mention the cost of Sitefinity being high given the cost of licensing Sharepoint 2007 or 2010 for internet sites!

Foundation, which since 2010 is actually very nearly as functional as Standard or Enterprise, is FREE* though, so you can kind of see my point I hope.

To be fair yes 2010 licensing is quite different (cheaper) to 2007, Flybuys is 2007 though.

Anyway pretty sure you still need to buy Server External Connector's for internet facing sites with SPF (Sharepoint Foundation) for each web server running SPF 2010.
