Neets: Yep. The ASUS Eee Transformer yesterday. And hubby has bought a number of different CDs and BluRays from Amazon US too. It's like Christmas time. And yes, all because of the very favourable exchange rate at the moment.

Any good directions to point someone in for buying toys (tablet, netbook, possibly laptop) in USD?

brought a full hd cam 5mp 1920*1080 8gb that films in h.264 .mov cost was $95USD Free Shipping it was 103NZD

Yes, I bought the tablet from Amazon. It shipped from Amazon rather than a seller. It's been my experience that you can't get any electronic goods shipped to NZ except a few sellers on Amazon, or from them direct.

You might find other independent stores (outside Amazon's market) will ship. My phones have come from Australia and the UK. The conversion rates didn't make sense to buy from either of those countries. So the US it was.

I'm wonder if iTunes will ever drop their NZ pricing as when it was launched it was based on the US$ exchange rate. Guess they're just greedy now..

Hmm... Kickstart 3.1 ROM, AmigaOS 3.1. RGB to SCART, an A590 PCB, Roomba brush kit, PSP battery and case.....

RAM.... Oh and some A590 ROM's V7.0 and a scsi adapter...

I read somewhere they dropped the pricing in Australia, no sign of it happening here. My guess is yes they are now being greedy.

Would love to go on an Apple buying spree if there prices actually moved with the dollar.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

I'm not buying anything particularly because of the dollar, just enjoying it while it lasts. I am considering getting a couple of Kindle's for people for Christmas because of the exchange rate though...

Yeah, sort of. That site eventually redirects to shoebuy.com to American site where you pay in USD. If you use the promotional code 'sigler' you get an additional 10% discount.

I didn't like shoebuy. When it redirected to the .com I tried to checkout a test pair of shoes as a guest, and it wouldn't show shipping prices to New Zealand.

I bought some shoes at Rebel sports instead. I tried on about eight pairs of shoes before I found some I liked. I'm not sure buying shoes online is a good idea, and I find it dishonest to try on in a store then buy online.

Are there any/many pitfalls to buying a tablet from overseas? I guess warranty claims will be non existent or at best difficult for a start.

Thinking of picking up a 13 inch 128GB mac book air when I'm in the states next, NZD$1999 here, USD$1299 in the US, including sales tax at 7% and exchange rate at 0.84, thats NZD$1654, a saving of $345. Its a rough calculation... And a huge saving!
