Hi.

I was wondering if anybody had bought anything because of our high dollar right now. Either from a retailer here or from a website. If so, what was it? :)

Looked today at buying some shoes from the US (RoyalElastics). $68 for the shoes (US), $65 for the shipping. I closed the browser tab.

Yep. The ASUS Eee Transformer yesterday. And hubby has bought a number of different CDs and BluRays from Amazon US too. It's like Christmas time. And yes, all because of the very favourable exchange rate at the moment.

Local retails must be hurting bcuas eof this, but some could pass on the savings due to the echange rate. It is likely the NZ dollar will reach parity, so there will be so good deals. Great for National as their voters want to buy cheaper stuff.

Best advice if you buy stuff regularly is to buy a $US prepaid credit card such as the ANZ Travel Cards and load it up with money. If the $ falls to 50c you're still buying stuff at the current ~85c rate.

eg, BMW. Selling at same or greater price as when the USD/NZD exchange rate was 0.60.

Sure, they have hedging, but, this is a long term trend where hedging does not cover.

Lol yeah, have been using them for a while, and then decided its time for a upgrade. I got the everything, driver, fairway wood, hybrid irons, putter and new bag for around $900nz including 3 fedex day shipping. Would have cost me 2.5k in nz, ordered thursday and it arrived Monday morning.
