Yeah, but till they do something about their insanly high standard rates, or let me buy more than a couple of days power on their special deals, they are just priced out of being reasonable IMO.

I don't get why you have to put those kind of people on there ?? For what marketing ??

That they provide good electricity ?? huh ? lol

Maybe they are comparing NZs electricity infrastructure to that of Iraqs?

Previous years it was probably a fair comparison, but recently it has been a lot better here on the shore. Still a long time to resolve outages but they are infrequent now.

Their current $19.95 special pack is a bit of a laugh, though:

The thing is they put those promos up but never say how many units they are for. I am assuming that its only 100 since its just a little below what I am paying elsewhere, but I am sure I have used more than 100 units in the last day here, thats only an average of about 4kW

The number of units each product gives varies between customers.

So they make an image, put a price on it, and then show you the actual units when you click it.

I only buy the cheapest specials.

It does say how many units when you login to the site to see the deal. I think the price was 25.91c a unit.
Note that the powershop doesn't have daily line fees, unlike all the other power providers. That saves a bit and also some of there specials like Spring power, let you buy as many blocks as you like. I brought most of my winter power in January. I find the powershop is saving me heaps of money, paid 24.44c a unit.

ChrisNZL you must be in Dunedin? As the special is a different rate than in the Manawatu.

See, I dont want to join a company where I cant see the rates before I join. Thats just crazy. They say that they guarentee that you will save $150 or something. So I asked them once if that means that I can after a year get a cheque for $150+ whatever extra they cost over my current provider or what and they didnt know.

All those prices are way over what I pay, and at 91c a day for lines charges, it doesnt take many units at the lower price to cover it - being that the lowest on there is 26.99 that isnt a special, that means that the 21.8c/unit inc gst and discount that I pay it only takes about 12 units a day to cover the cost of the lines charge.

yes but the smart ones that paid 21.5c back in feb for winter power that covers 2 weeks on the month and then buys the weekly specials to finish the month only paying 22.42c per unit it works out way cheaper when you pre pay power.

That ad is better and more clever. The Saddam one however is very bad taste, as many people lost their lives under him.
