I find that ad quite offensive. Perhaps they are trying to be edgy.

Oh wow. Epic fail if you ask me.

Offensive? Not IMHO.

Galactically stupid. Yup.

Agree. I pretty much told them the same thing, so did a lot of other people.

The chief executive apologised (sort of..) and agreed to remove Saddam and Kim Il from the campaign:

http://powershop.scoop.co.nz/2011/07/19/introducing-powershop-loudhailer/

http://samepowerdifferentattitude.co.nz/#/power.html

Even so, they have not made any move to take these down, and the ad's are still running, even online.
  1. I don't think they get it at all
  2. It appears they now intend to exploit it - perhaps at least until they can get it to hit the mainstream media
I don't have any problem with Powershop I just think this is dumb. If they had put Bin Laden on there as a  search and rescue pilot they would have made the news faster.

It is akin to putting Hitler on it IMO. Bad taste, but even bad publicity is good publicity.

Powershop had an image on their Facebook page for a while that basically told customers to "***k off" if you had any complaints. Lot of mixed views on it, obviously a lot telling them to "***k off" and others who took it as it was intended, a joke...just a very poor one.

I saw the Kim Il one first, on Albert Street. I like them, both clever and funny. Two things which are rarely combined in NZ

I'll be sticking to Energy Online..however when I saw this one I thought it was Stalin not Saddam.

Doesn't really offend me, but won't really remain in my mind after this thread

I have moved across the ditch.  Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.
