heavenlywild: My brain says Air NZ cuz it is the logical and safe choice. My bank account says Jetstar. I will end up paying the $100 extra... just for peace of mind....


Just pray that there are no eruptions anywhere otherwize you'll be stuck in Ozz..

Depends, if you dont mind getting there at a time they decide, Jetstar is fine, if you want to get there at a time you want to be there, Airnz.

Personally I will pay the extra to get there when I want to be there.


Edit Oops, sorry I was using my experience within NZ, international, AIRNZ no question.

Checked in returning from Aus to nz an hour late earlier this week and they didnt mind at all

Also u get the entertainment options for free (movies extra $10, but everything else free)

These incompetent idiots have just delayed this flight yet another 90min no reason no excuses just delayed, all other flights with other carriers are on time, last time I ever fly with them you have been warned!

I refuse to fly Jetstar no matter what the cost.

Since Pacific Blue have pulled out of domestic I have tried to avoid flying in favour of driving instead, but obviously that's not going to work for you if guide travelling overseas!

go with AirNZ! It costs me way to much to be buggered about by some half arssed joke for a airline (jet star)!
when jet star started off they stuffed me about and it took 2 days to get me to where i was going and the sad part was that this was inside NZ.

stuzz: AirNZ . I see so many disgruntled people giving them a serve on twitter. Schedules get changed often. etc etc


AirNZ will also change schedules after you have booked, which is very annoying after you have planned for months to get connections right, but I still find them the best airline operating in NZ. I think the best thing is to always use the same airline for all connections of your trip, incase a flight is delayed, which happens a lot. As with everything, you get what you pay for, and often when you try to cut costs, it ends up being more costly in terms of time wasted to fix it. Plus flying NZ is supporting NZ, as it is laregly kiwi owned, largely by us taxpayers.

If you DO decide to fly JetStar:

a) Be prepared for your flight to be cancelled, rescheduled etc.

b) When it is, don't run onto Twitter and tweet about it like every other whiny, entitled retarded idiot that booked a Jetstar flight that was then cancelled, delayed etc.

You get what you pay for. If you go cheap (and there's nothing wrong with that) make sure you schedule in some buffer time because it will probably crap out. If you're cool with that, JetStar. If you NEED to get there within a tight timeframe, not JetStar.

OK the people have spoken. You guys are right and it is good to know I am making the right decision:)

With the world facing so many natural disasters and what not, I guess it is always best to go with a reliable airline that has the staff, planes and reputation to get you to your destination in quick time!

That irritates me too. Jetstar's problems are widely known, so you'd think that people would know what they're in for when they book.

Pacific Blue were generally much cheaper than Air NZ on domestic and I found their service fine. I think Jetstar's problems are particular to Jetstar themselves rather than to discount airlines in general.
