Is it just me, or does anyone else think it wasn't right that NZ websites such as NZ Herald and Stuff posted this video? I would have thought a video of a 2 year old being killed is far too sensitive and disrespectful to be displayed in such a way. Having thought about this for a couple of days, I actually think there's a racist angle to this as well. Would they have posted a video of a NZ 2 year old being killed? Of course not. A British one? Unlikely. But it feels like a lower standard has been applied to this poor Chinese girl, maybe because she's just not perceived as being quite so much like "us". I'm just really uncomfortable with the whole thing.

Now I'm pretty tough (as you can see from my self portrait avatar), but that video is very hard to watch.

"But it feels like a lower standard has been applied to this poor Chinese girl, maybe because she's just not perceived as being quite so much like "us"".

Those people are clearly nothing like us. They are a bunch of animals.

How in the hell does ANOTHER truck run her over? Are these pricks blind?

Pretty dangerous to stop the car on a busy highway and cross 3-4 lanes to help the dog. Just saying.

I know what you mean though.

Thats the most racist sht ive seen in a while. They are just like us, we just live comfortably enough to value life so highly..

Who are you to say that? The Bill of Rights "Freedom of expression" section protects peoples rights to their own opinions.

The bill of rights might give the poster the right to say it, but it also gives myself and mikeypi the right to say what we think as well.

I would actually agree that it is a racist coment and stereotyping people like that is what leads to manyof the worlds problems.

Do you believe that all middle eastern people are terorists? What about all white middle aged men being serial killers? Typically a serial killer does fit that profile.

Why is it racist? I didn't say Chinese people are a bunch of animals. I was referring to the people in the video being a bunch of animals, although as shown by the previous video they probably dont even deserve animal status. I dont care if the people in the video are Chinese or Kiwi.

Animals.

If there was an effing video of a bunch of middle eastern people walking around a bomb factory making home made nukes them damn right I would label the people in that video terrorists!

OK, why?

Why do people ignore the plight of others in distress?

If we take away the 'because they are different from us and we are better' what are we left with?

My personal theory is that over generations people in societies abdicate their responsibilities to each other.

We all say: "Somebody should have helped that girl". How many of us have walked past a homeless person and made excuses why we don't give them money. I know I have.

What we need is a cultural change from "Somebody should have helped that girl" to "I will help the next person I see in need of help".

Sure, it isn't always possible but that is what we need.

I'm not likely going to try and step into a situation where it would be 15 against 1.

Pretty sad if there were (hypothetically) 20 witnesses all saying that...   and they're not saying you should physically intervene, but at the very least call the police, or try calling someone to help.

Sorry, there have been far too many instances similar to this right here in NZ for anyone to be suggesting it's something unique to other countries\cultures...
