“Some of the questions we've received in some of our other engagements, some of them relate to the fact that it's 180 knots or 300 kilometres per hour, travelling just 10 metres above the surface of the water. So there is a bit of a perception issue.”

This is something like the 5-7th 'article' on this. This was front page this morning but was buried by lunchtime.

"Ocean Flyer had ordered 15 Viceroy seagliders for service in 2025" yet they have only just built the first model, not even a prototype.

Sounds like they've reinvented the Ekranoplan. Not only do they exist, contrary to the story's claims, they've been around for more than half a century. If you want to know why they never took off (or at least could take off but never took off), just consult any aviation history textbook.

Its certainly not new. The airfish series have been around for some time now and their own video of airfish8 in operation shows why it will never be a commercial craft.

TV3 attributed Stanford University to using deep brain stimulation against binge eating disorder.

Penn Research is claiming credit, though it started at Stanford.

It's way too early to start congratulating anyone, as only two patients were involved (and mice)

I think researchers may be trying to jump on the bandwagon.

A small device that detects food craving-related brain activity in a key brain region, and responds by electrically stimulating that region, has shown promise in a pilot clinical trial in two patients with loss-of-control binge eating disorder (BED), according to researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

The trial, described in a paper that appears today in Nature Medicine, followed the two patients for six months, during which the implanted device—of a type normally used to treat drug-resistant epilepsy—monitored activity in a brain region called the nucleus accumbens. The nucleus accumbens is involved in processing pleasure and reward, and has been implicated in addiction. Whenever the device sensed nucleus accumbens signals that had been found to predict food cravings in prior studies, it automatically stimulated that brain region, disrupting the craving-related signals. Over six months of treatment, the patients reported far fewer binge episodes, and lost weight.
