Handle9: Novak Djokovic is being held at the border in Australia as his visa isn’t eligible for a medical vaccination exemption.

Given the avalanche of anger against his privileged treatment they had to find some way to defuse the situation, a trivial visa technicality sounds like the perfect get out of jail free.

I feel sorry for the Russian player who's vaxxed but can't get in because Sputnik isn't recognised in Australia.

What privileged treatment? He either met the criteria or he didn't. I am sure it was Morrison who was clear he hadn't received any treatment any Australian would not have been given, the issue was at a federal level as I understand it.

I am unsure if he has time to apply for the correct visa now, but if he does, and he qualifies, then the issue is not with Djocovich, but rather than rules that apply to everyone.

I am no fan of his, nor particularly of tennis, but I have yet to see any evidence of special treatment being applied to him.

And so did model Melania Trump when she was granted her Einstein visa. I'm sure both visas were totally legitimate and would hold up to any scrutiny.

People that return my calls, even when they don’t know the number. If you do this you’re amazing.

Building code on a Loongson system and getting the output that you're expecting, but not exactly what you're expecting:

/sbin/ldconfig: 无法打开缓冲文件 /etc/ld.so.cache

: 没有那个文件或目录

Spammers/Phishers who can't get the specifics of their latest attempt correct. NZ Post "parcel that can't be delivered" email with links in it purporting to go to NZTA/renew.

Come on guys, if you are going to spam people, at least make it look professional...

I frequently participate in maligning local government authorities so for balance and fairness here's a thumbs-up to CCC from me.  It did make me smile.

Yesterday I texted a tradie who did some work for me about 15 months ago (simple, one-day job) to ask for a quote to do another simple job for me.  10 mins later he was on-site and gave some good advice (turns out the work I thought needed doing wasn't necessary after all).  In an age when so many tradies are maligned for not turning up when they say they will, this was mighty impressive.

Teenage flies again and the lengths gone to get rid of two which keep nipping at my legs. Last resort after chasing, spraying and electric tennis zappers, I bought some sticky rolls of fly trap paper.

Hung a 1 meter long one in the family room off the centre light almost above where I sit. I can confirm it is gooey and sticky enough to trap a flying pigeon and a very elegant and tasteful accoutrement to any decor.

Result...The fly paper has been hanging since yesterday 2pm. Not a fly on it and am still being nipped.

Obviously you are supposed to transfer the sticky goo to your legs. Hanging from the ceiling optional 😀

We have one of these hanging up in the lounge, and one in our bedroom - they are utterly gross but work very well for us. Both have so many flies on them that they are starting to look like raisin bread though.

There is a school of thought that this kind of thing is deliberate. Intentionally bad English and almost-obvious errors such as the above help in filtering out intelligent, scam-aware people.

That I actually got of my a**e and made a proper request (well, a politely worded complaint may be a better description) to the council, rather than bleating on here about it in the 'Angry' thread.

Breaching bylaws and things - there probably should be consequences. But I also wonder should you get a bill for protesting against something you disagree with (not that I agree with them) ?

Ordered a few cables from PBTech. There was a warning that (for some reason) they couldn't actually send them till the 18th. Oh well, I tell myself, there's no rush, relax.

But I still thought I'd check the order status today and turns out they're sitting in town less that a kilometre away waiting for the local courier to chuck in their van.
