Spooky!

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

NZH today: “Food Box stolen from front doorstep with homeowner still inside.”

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I didn't realise NZ house prices were so bad that there's an actual housing market for cardboard boxes!

“American spies are gathering in Queenstown for a clandestine meeting”

At least, they were until The Herald blew their cover…

Major gaffe on One News just now when it was said: “New Zealand’s first and only Victoria Cross recipient, Willie Apiata [is at the Queen’s funeral]”.

Somewhat disrespectful to forget the other 21 recipients and Charles Upham received two.

Edit: Watching News on delay and posted this before TVNZ gave an explanatory re-wording by way of an apology for the initial error.

Cpl Apiata is the only person to have been awarded the Victoria Cross for New Zealand.

Yes, and this was clearly explained in the One News item. Upham et al received the British Victoria Cross.

Fair enough - but only in the subsequent explanatory item later in the News after they initially had loose wording. I'm guessing there was an outcry after the first item which they had to correct.

To quote the genial Julius Winnfield "English mother****er, do you speak it?!" Certainly the NZ Herald editor does not understand the need to retain consistency of tenses.

Stuff headline: "King Charles made last-minute change to Queen's funeral procession to ensure he was 'seen properly'"

Reality: he asked horses to be put behind the Royal family in the procession, to avoid people seeing the King step on horse poo.

🥱
