Agree about The Nice Guys. A big disappointment, I think a 5 was generous.

I found Nice Guys quite funny actually - I especially enjoyed the lampooning of the 70's styles from the credits to the parties. Not awesome but amusing enough on a wet Saturday night.

Watched The Nice Guys on Amazon Instant Video. I can't really understand how this absolutely pile of excrement got a 7.4 on IMDB - more like 4.7/10 instead.

Just watched Dr. Strange. Found it be good than my expectations. Actually I am not into movies where a lot of CG is involved but this one has a good story line to it.

The Arrival

9.5/10

Just WOW. Mind blown. Still trying to get my head around it. Can't imagine the book would have been much fun to decipher though.

I strongly recommend it. Fantastic.

The last movie I just watched is The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926)

I was hoping for something better from that movie but I'm disappointed. I'm just pleased that the movie is still alive.

I don't know if it's a movie or something else, but I really enjoyed watching it.

Zelig (1983)

Absolute higher class comedy.

Geektastic:

Arrival.

Rarely has a film with aliens bored me so witless. By half way I was wishing I had brought my Kindle...

Just back from Arrival and what can I say other than WOW! This is one outstanding piece of cinema.

It may not have as many explosions as Independence Day, but it's all the better for it.

The three best films I have seen this year have been in the last two weeks:

1. Hell or High Water

2. Arrival

3. Nocturnal Animals

Just ordered a bluray of The Long Good Friday from Amazon UK. Obviously doesn't count as 'just watched'. Am hoping its still as good as I remember it being.

Just watched my bluray copy a couple of weeks ago. It holds up.

Supposed to be a new transfer, so should look good as well as being good.

Mind you, its from 1980, so I'll probably be too busy depressing myself about how young everybody looks and I was still a teenager then and its back when Liverpool used to win the league with monotonous regularity, etc, etc...

If you like The Long Good Friday you should try Get Carter with Michael Caine.

Yep, a very young Pierce Brosnan in his film debut. And what I reckon is one of the best final scenes of the genre!
