New Zealand ice cream company Tip Top has pulled its “take a selfie with a stranger” challenge from Popsicle ice-block sticks following complaints on social media.

Tip Top’s promotion was launched in November and is set to run into 2023. It features a number of “challenges” printed on the stick of all products in Tip Top’s stick range, including Popsicle, Choc Bar, Jelly Tip, Fruju and Memphis Meltdown.

Other challenges include “walk the cat” and “turn off your phone”, but the words “take a selfie with a stranger” printed on the stick drew complaints on social media.

Ok, I know the stranger thing. How often have many of us been overseas and been a bit stuck, yet the "strangers" are awesome. I actually didnt read this article, the title speaks for itself.

Lets promote unfriendliness? This is bordering on unreal TBH

Indeed. Quoting one of the comments from there:

"As someone else has pointed out, parents are quite happy to let [their] kids knock on doors and beg for lollies during a stupid American Halloween import but 4 people have a whine about this and a company issues a grovelling apology."

We now live in a fantasy land where instead of pleasing some of the people all of the time we now mustn't upset any of the people all of the time.

We need to get real.

I’m guessing this is what happened with NZH Gault/Ramsay story I mentioned above. Originally the headline showed the word ‘pussy’  - then before long it was changed to ‘p***y’ - presumably because someone complained.

NZH were either too ignorant to understand what the phrase actually means - or didn’t have the balls to ignore the complaint. Either way it’s a poor look and points to over-wokeness.

Headline in Herald:

“Colosseum’s drains reveal sausage dogs slaughtered in bloody bear fight bouts”

Quote from archaeologists in the article tells a slightly different story:

“We found many bones from dogs which were similar to the modern sausage dog,” Alfonsina Russo, director of the Colosseum, told The Telegraph.

“They were less than 30cm in height. We think they may have been used to perform acrobatic tricks just as you would see in a circus today. Or it may be that they were used as part of staged hunts or even pitched against bears and animals like that. We don’t know for sure.”

Obviously the reporter was able to conduct research that the archaeologists couldn't and was able to prove the slaughtering in the bloody bear fights.

NZH headline today:

“Two men charged after horse allegedly administered prohibited substance”.

I wonder how the horse did it and to whom - and why wasn’t the horse charged?

Here's the stock photo from the article. One problem - Rolls-Royce AE 2100-A is turboprop.

Full page ad from today's DomPost. Even the ad agencies have trouble constructing their sentences.

Do they mean they only directly sell water to primary and secondary schools and no one else, or do they mean they sell only water and nothing else to primary and secondary schools?

It is the latter. They only sell water to schools. If you find a Coke product in the school canteen that is not water then the school have sourced it themselves via Pak n Save etc….

It’s poorly worded but that is what they are trying to say.

Also a bit deceptive. Drink portfolio is different to drinks. And it’s different to the drinks they sell too.

The full statement on the Coke site is

"We are a founding signatory to the New Zealand Beverage Council’s public commitment to only directly sell water into primary and intermediate schools, and to avoid directly selling sugar-sweetened soft drinks or any energy drinks to secondary schools."

Drill a hole down through the cooktop, then deep clean your oven a la gynaecologist.
