Just watched Spectral on Netflix. Not a blockbuster but quite entertaining.

The Lobster - Very, very strange - even more so if you go into it without knowing anything about it. 7/10

Geektastic:

Arrival.

Rarely has a film with aliens bored me so witless. By half way I was wishing I had brought my Kindle...

AMEN

I was waiting for it to get better based on ratings....Never happened.

The last 20 minutes would've made a good short film.

I finally watched Green Room a few nights ago.  It joins a few really good thriller's that came out in 2016, like Don't Breathe etc.

Premise - a punk band on their last tank of gas and just about to cancel their tour find out about a gig they can play... catch is it's for a bunch of skinheads.  It's not a spoiler to say they witness a murder (sort of) and then the skinheads won't let them leave.  From there it's a crazy ride!  Patrick Stewart is the patriarch and oh boy is he creepy!  Such a great role for him.  It's a little bit gory, certainly no Saw or anything, but just go in knowing there's some intense scenes.

Anton Yelchin was such a good actor, such a shame he died last year in what seemed to be totally preventable circumstances.

Now it's a must watch!

La la land.

Loved it ... and this from someone who avoids musicals.

Watched The Accountant last night, and end up being an interesting movie with some good sequences - 7.5/10 probably.

Probably doesn't count as a movie, cause it isn't, but am part way through Peter Pan Goes Wrong on iPlayer. bit of good innocent fun so far.

I made the mistake of watching Superman vs Batman on Sky last night. This is not the kind of film I normally would watch, so I have never seen it before. After the first confusing and gratuitously violent and chaotic scenes, I let it run in the background while I did things on my laptop. Even so, it still managed to leave a sour taste that I still can't get rid of today. What a truly terrible film that was. Why would anyone make such a thing? Yuk.

^^^ I made a decision in 2016 that I would no longer reward the Hollywood hacks for making such rubbish. No more comic book or super hero movies for me. Most of them are completely forgettable as soon as you leave the cinema.

I think they are the cinematic equivalent of junk food.
