sparkyred:

I did a double take.

A what hole?

I too would like to purchase a hole in the ground with a Bentley unceremoniously dumped in it.

The Stuff quiz. "Where do you think this photo was taken?"

The question was not "where was this photo taken?"; it explicitly asked what I think. It then told me that I was "incorrect".

Also the stuff quiz: "what is a woggle?"

Ans: "Boy Scout neckerchief fastener"

In New Zealand, Scouts are not Boy Scouts, they are just Scouts, and they can be boys or girls. And they don't wear neckerchiefs, they wear scarves.

Not an issue with the headline per se, but this is one of the best versions of this awful dirge I have ever heard. The best, being Alan Slater's arrangement used for Expo '88 and TV One start/end of broadcasting.

Sorry, they mention that she got another line garbled but I hear her singing "Hear our voices, we retreat(entreat),". Lost before the bout started.

Must've been thinking about the French.

That's worse than dumb. Have they actually been to Surfers, Tuscany etc. I think not, otherwise they wouldn't write utter crap like this.

Same with media parrots squawking about Hawke's Bay's 'Mediterranean' climate. Clearly they have never been to the Mediterranean.

I can't vouch for The Hamptons, but can confirm that Matakana is unlike either Tuscany or Fiji, and also that Ahipara is rather unlike, some may say the complete opposite of Surfers Paradise.

Photographic evidence attached...

Perhaps they were thinking of how Surfers used to be (decades ago). Even now there are still some isolated homes or small blocks of units on the waterfront.
