More ignorance from the NZH. One of their headlines today: “Government won’t support stressed mortgage holders.”

The story says: Mortgage holders struggling to meet their repayment obligations won’t be among those who get government support in the upcoming cost-of-living-focused Budget.

This is a totally incorrect use of the term ‘mortgage holder’. The mortgage holder (aka mortgagee or mortgage owner) here is the bank or lender - not the property owner/borrower (aka mortgagor).

As it reads, the headline actually means: “Government won’t support stressed home loan lenders or banks” - which is not what the story is about.

pab: Misherman?

Either someone is using a special keyboard, or they've got really large fingers - there is quite a bit of distance between "f" and "m" on my QWERTY keyboard!

Stuff article on coronation, has a few spelling mistakes in this one paragraph.

"It’s not clear how much the sword weight, but the scabbard along is lined in solid gold. King Charle’s crown, also solid gold, weighs a whopping 2.2kgs, so the sword, which is 1.2m long and more than 30cm across at the crossguard, could be around the same weight."

Time has fortunately done some research instead of mindless speculation and irrelevant comparison:

Mordaunt was required to carry an 8 lbs. 17th-Century Sword of State ...... holding the 4 ft. sword throughout the ceremony.

For those who might be wondering... https://swordscorner.com/how-much-do-swords-weigh-full-analysis-table-lbs-kgs/ classifies swords weighing over 5lb as "heavy".

Not as impressive as golf balls but still if you were out in it the correct expression would be

"Ow!"

Silvrav: This mornings breaking news!

A perfect summation of the NZ news media….

But I believe their fixation with trivia isn’t limited to mornings.
