I've never made it through a Pokémon TV episode, because frankly it was just too weird.

So I can't give any opinion on this story

Pokémon’s Typhlosion Goes Viral After Game Freak Leak For The Weirdest Possible Reason: Forbes
...
Game Freak has been hacked and countless files have been released ... it includes everything from unused concept art and scrapped lore stories from the universe, and one in particular has gone a bit viral. More than a bit.
...
Fans have discovered some sort of lost lore story about Typhlosion which…well, here’s a brief excerpt:

“A long time ago, when the boundary between Pokémon and humans was unclear…”

Okay nope I’m gonna stop right there. Yes, this is going where you think it’s going, a relationship between a human and Pokemon. That kind of relationship. But it’s…even weirder than you might think.

I have yet to see any tangible evidence of any video actually breaking the internet, despite many claims of such things.

I doubt they even register as more than a blip on YouTubes server farms.

But, you know, shock, awe, clickbait is the way of things.

Apparently the breach also revealed some hardware specs on a proposed Nintendo Switch 2.

For all you Linux geeks, someone did a chmod 777 on a Github config file.

Silly Linux mistake exposes a terabyte of secret Pokémon data

Bus Killer was on bail.

From the NZ Herald article:

"The charges of resisting and obstructing a police officer in Auckland last week laid against Kael Leona, the man now sought for yesterday's killing aboard a bus in Onehunga, was far from his first brush with the law in recent years.

It is understood he is subject to prison release conditions, meaning he would have had to report to a probation officer regularly.

A little over two weeks ago he was in court on a charge of breaching those release conditions and it appears he was granted bail on that charge.

He was charged last year with threatening to kill or do grievous bodily harm by stabbing, and with doing a threatening act. Leona was up for sentence on those charges in May this year."

Why, or why, is bail given to known dangerous recidivists.

Judges are probably told how many places there are for people in remand/prison/detention.
So cases get prioritized and when the 'Inn is near Full' bail becomes easier to get.

There was a hint that some of the backend Police cuts hit non-sworn staffing/management ?

Now some countries may manage close monitoring better in the community as they have staff to do so.
Given how miserly is our spending is, we probably don't.

Might be kicked down to social services to monitor, who also lack resource, having cut staff here.
We could spend more money, but with everyone's budgets being cut, and mega redundancies to pay for?

Looks like there have been several revision edits to that article since it was first published. The article currently has a better timeline:

NZHerald: Herald inquiries have revealed he was sentenced by Judge Debra Bell on May 15 for threatening to kill by stabbing, and doing a threatening act towards a dwelling. Judge Bell imposed a one year and seven months’ prison term and a final protection order in favour of the victim. Later this year Leona was out of prison but subject to release conditions. People sentenced to less than two years in prison are automatically released after serving half their sentence. As a result, if Leona had already spent over nine months in custody on remand at the time of his sentence, he would have been released on conditions almost immediately.

The information is clearly not complete yet, but they're saying it's very likely Leona spent close to nine months in remand jail awaiting a court date after that first event whatever it was. I think there will be more information coming.

A massive problem in NZ has been that remand prisoners have very limited access to rehabilitation programs known to reduce offending like anger management and all that. The government updated and clarified the required legislation in March this year to address that gap and basically mandate availability of rehabilitation programs for remand prisoners. Too late for the victim I think for that change to have had any effect. These types of intentional stranger homicides are rare because there is really no reason.

Today's Whiskey.  Tango and Foxtrot to follow later.

(It's actually just elderflower juice since they have it cheaper than anyone else.  So in practice no whiskey, tango, or foxtrot).

Went to purchase something from Amazon UK using my Wise card that contains a healthy balance of British Pounds, however payment declined because Amazon does not support 3DS security. Subsequent searching discovered lots of complaints about this. Grrr... 😡

The bystander said it was “gutting” when a select few ruined the events for everybody else.

“The hosts and organisers that go to show off their skills, they just want it to be about skids - a way to practise for competitions, some of the spectators get in the way and get drunk,” he said.

“I think we need a spot to go where all the interested people can go and practise safely,” he said.

I agree they need somewhere to go.

Here's a novel idea, get off your a##e and organise yourselves to get such a place. That's how it used to work.

Of course there's possibly a couple of issues today. Most will want it for free and some won't be interested in abiding by any rules. So we'll end up with the same louts causing trouble out on public roads just as happened here.

Yep, but they never want to make any effort, pay any money or follow any rules.

There already are "spots they can go and practice" if they are genuinely interested in the sport aspect of such things.  The fact they do not partake in the actual sport on existing tracks tells you everything you need to know.

That a number of 'reputable' US Election Predictor sites have said that 54 times out of 100, Trump will win the US Election.

I am honestly just beyond blown away he got elected the first time, let alone potentially even remotely an option a second time.

God helps us.

Is there an actual track just comprised of intersections where you shred tyres?

Locally the morons have the cheek to bring the worn-out tyres back and dump them in the sand dunes near the beach.
