To be fair they probably can't afford more than one song, given all the companies they keep buying.

Vodafone's hold music. The same Lorde song over and over again with seemingly nothing else on the playlist. I've had to call them a couple of times over the last few days as have had issues setting up a new fibre connection. First call lasted 45 minutes and she had to put me on hold 3 or 4 times while she checked things and every time it was the same damn song from the beginning again.
AirNZ is bit like this. Always start the music on the same song and always the same few songs.

Fred99 appears to think compliance and regulations have an insignificant cost.

I bet you can't substantiate that accusation - because it's not true.
Attacking a person with "stuff made up" in attempt to discredit them.
Something small that really annoys me.
Because you only talk about the benefits and never the cost.It is unbalanced.

You may find it hard to believe, but I'm actually quite critical of the system, and as you may have noticed from some of my other posts - instinctively anti-authoritarian.
Yet here we are, with health and safety policy set by a centre-right and generally business-friendly government, and I reject some of the outrageous claims made about how business-unfriendly it is - and you're arguing that what I say is "unbalanced"???
That's actually "unhinged", in my honest opinion.

Agreed. They seem obsessed with forcing modern noise on my ears. Not that I can tell one from another usually, as much of this modern stuff just sounds the same to me, but how about putting Radio NZ National on so we can at least hear something interesting or maybe the news even.
Anyone would think they forget they have customers over 30.

Reason enough never to switch, there!

Frontal safety in a van isn't going to save you from the 1/2 tonne of tools in the back being launched at you - but yeah I agree about those crappy vans.
Which why a sane person would have a safety guard between the passengers and the load...
There's something to be said for using the ubiquitous Ford Transit style van, which is a bit bigger which tends to allow the load to spread out and remain lower than is the case in these midget Japanese vans you see everywhere.

Sites that suddenly all insist that you provide a mobile phone number to register with no other option provided. I do not have a mobile phone. I do not want to have one. I surely can't be the only person in the world. This kind of brainless arrogant narrow-minded stupidity is really, really annoying!

Can you defeat that by entering a number like 027 000 0000 ?
I think they text you at your number to verify, so even if you have a phone but no text you still get screwed by the morons who think this is a feature.

An SMS to a mobile phone is a very easy way to tie an online person to a piece of tracable hardware, making people setting up accounts and running etc harder. Not impossible since a sim card with a number is only a few bucks but they are more effort to get than an email address.
Most people work on the 95th percentile theory, so that the final 5% that cant use it are not really a big deal, and I suspect the people that lack a mobile to use, that would be using a web site would be less than 5%.
Rikkitic lives rural and she can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think she has any mobile coverage where she's located.
From my hacking days I am fairly certain that if I really wanted to set up an untraceable email account or a fake registration it would not be particularly hard to do. This kind of thing just inconveniences people for no really good reason.

We didn't used to but it now works fine with 4G. I still don't want a bloody phone!

Have you contacted the site owner and asked what you should do? We recently had a request from someone without an email address, and we responded by making the email field optional; there was no real underlying reason to collect the address so we stopped requiring it. With any luck, there will be a backup process you can follow.
