Brilliantly choreographed and edited to within an inch of its life. So good, I want to see it again.

Interesting, it got panned by critics. Might go and see it, not sure when I have time!

Saw The Lost City of Z Amazon. Not really my sort of movie but gave it a 6 out of 10 . Was well filmed and good actors but the story a little disjointed in places.

and Stasis Netflix. Concept was good but the execution could have been better 3 out of 10

I think if you are going into this level of detail on a super hero movie by Marvel, you are probably wanting a different genre.

I don't disagree with your points, but I think a certain level of leaving reality at the door is required.

Not Marvel. She came from DC, and their characterisations were always the worst kind of two-dimensional cardboard. I always thought WW was exceptionally weak even by their standards, with her invisible plane and golden lasso and other nonsense. Her only redeeming virtue was that she was female in a time when no superheros (or action figures of any other description) were. In that regard she was a real pioneer.

Wasn't the point I was making as to what franchise she belongs to, it was that if you go to watch something like this, best suspend your grasp on reality so you can enjoy the $20 you spent :)

I had a similar discussion around The Martian with my work mate. If you had an issue with the science of it, you should have known by the fact they were on mars in the first place.

I just saw Boss Baby in a moment of idle boredom. Not a horrible film for its type, but a predictable soppy American ending and even Dreamworks animation can't rival Pixar. 12 year-olds should enjoy the mildly naughty 'adult' humour that even they can get, making them feel very grown up and part of the secret club in the process.

Same actually, it had some good parts, but largely was worse than the PJ version. Interesting side fact, that was my first HD-DVD movie and the fact you could see blades of grass on the mountains behind the biggest fight scene was quite the revelation!

Yeah I was also disappointed in the science. They made such a big deal out of using sh¡t for fertiliser, which was okay but what else are you going to use? I thought the best bit was encoding the alphabet with hexadecimal. That was clever and simple, just what you need for survival.

Saw Dunkirk last weekend. Brilliant, and I'd be happy to see it again (and pay to see it again more to the point).

Took me a little while to work out the timelines (even though they put them on screen - The Mole - 1 week etc. I didn't really get that till about halfway through).

Sound was awesome, and a couple of times I literally jumped - I don't know if you'd get that at home on Bluray (you would if you had a great system, and had it turned up).

Another great thing about it - it wasn't too long - 100ish minutes - just right IMO (too many movies are long for the sake of being long these days).

Read the book. It goes into so much more detail in the science. They glossed over it in the movie.

Apparently everything in the book is accurate apart from the storm at the start (which in the light atmosphere would barely rustle up a light breeze) but they didn't some thing to get him stranded.

The book doesn't mention the year it's set in but some bright spark has calculated it out based on a) the time used in traveling and b) they arrived at thanksgiving. All accurate again.
